Speakers - Fabia Classic 1.2 - 2007

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, i've got a classic 1.2, 2007 (before the new shape came out), I'm looking at upgrading the speakers in the car, mainly adding some rears...the first thing you should all know is that i've never fitted speakers in a car before or played around with the ;)

There are only front speakers in the car, no tweeters or rears... I have some speakers on the way to me, the sizes are two 6x9's and two 6 1/2"s, i think that the 6 1/2's are going to be too big for those little bays either side of the parcel shelf so i was wondering what my options might be with these 4 speakers? will i need to cut some holes out of my parcel shelf to use them?

ALSO i was told i might have the cabling already in place but does anyone know if this is true on the classics and if so...where might it be?

cheers for any help :) i'm slooowly learning apart cars and stuff haha

Hi mate, I see you're a newbie so firstly welcome to Briskoda...

Up in the top right of the screen is the search forum feature...

Type "parcel shelf any ideas?" and search.

Have a read of my recent thread on how I fitted 6x9 speakers to my

VRS Fabia... I made a new parcel shelf from scratch so I wouldn't damage

the original... Theres lots of photos and hopefully you can get some ideas.

Hope to help. Enjoy Briskoda! Its a really great forum.

Hehe, in a way i've been here longer than you if you go by sign up dates ;) and i hadn't long finished your thread as it was pulled up via google :) Have you had any experience or heard anything about making speaker boxes? the stealth shelf seems like a good option but the mdf i have left isnt the right size anymore but would be right for making a couple of boxes... But if i went down the box route, would i be fine sticking all 4 speakers in a box or should i make individual boxes haha...

Apart from all that...do you know where abouts i should look to see if i already have cabling in place for rears? :)

Hi... Sorry... Reading that back I sounded like a patronising tw*t.

Who's the newbie now..... Hehe:rofl:

Firstly WOW!!!!!

I'm on Google??? Thats pretty cool Beavis... huh-huh-huh!

I had no idea!!! I'm still a bit over-awed by this whole computers lark...

If I were you I would start by pulling the carpet "cups" that sit directly below the

rear speaker grilles in the boot. They clip into the plastic via a couple of SHARP

metal tabs which are clipped on to the edge of the carpet. Try not to dislodge them

from the carpet like I did cos they're a git to clip back on securely to the carpet again.

Gently pull the carpet cups down and have a look up there. Hopefully, each side,

you'll see an unused pair of plastic plugs, each with two coloured wires coming from it...

They should be quite obvious if they're there I'd imagine... I don't know if the fabias have

connections for the rears pre wired in even if they are not used in some models...

Hope to help... :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Noo you dont ;) I had a look behind the carpet underneath where the spaces are each side of the shelf but theres no spare wiring, mainly just where the seatbelt retracts to taking up all the speaker space :( there is a couple of blocks of wiring behind all that though but cant see where its going to at the moment, So i'll be looking at running my own cabling from the headunit (symphony) to the back im assuming
