Donington Ventures goes bust

Featured Replies

It seems Donington Ventures, the company that owns the leasehold on the Donington circuit, has gone bust.:( Sad really, I would have loved to have seen a GP there again. I was lucky enough to be on the grid for the European GP that Senna won in the rain. It is a great circuit and although it was too small for modern F1s and it always looked like they were trying to plat fog in making it ready for GP, it is still sad to see them in trouble. Hopefully the circuit will continue to hot many other races still.

Didn't realise you were that kind of girl, Amanda

Back to the point - were they only concerned with F1 GP, or will the bike races be affected as well ?

MotoGP was moving out to Silverstone anyway , so it doesn't have a big headline event any more.

Hopefully the place isn't in too bad a state at the mo , as if they ran out of money after ripping the track and facilities up this could see the end of it as a venue entirely.

Fecksocks!!!! What does this mean for the BTCC then?

I think wearing swimming costumes/bikini was the right kind of clothing for the GP, wettest race I ever worked on:P. About an hour after the race finished, I found a mountain of used tyres and you could hardly see them for the steam still coming off them. It was a brilliant day though, I accidently stood on Alain Prosts nose cone on pole position (leave it Bryan!!).

As for the circuit and stuff, I think everything reverts back to the recently deceased Tom Wheatcrofts estate/family.

The Craner Curves are a national institution :(

I was hoping they would manage to sort things out, I live close enough I can hear the cars and bikes going round (obviously not at the moment given those pictures though...).

They still hope that if they can find a buyer quickly they can host the 2011 British GP. Nutters the lot of them.

I presume they looked down the back of the settee but still couldn't find the cash.

Sad but hardly a surprise.

Was never going to happen.

I think they might have lost their Business Acumen down there too.

Big ideas :rotz:

I've been a few times for Touring Cars and 500 Grand Prix, and it is a fantastic circuit - shame they've gone and b*ggered it up with unrealistic ambitions :(

Maybe that's what they were looking under the track.

A guy I used to work with though the Melbourne loop was named after the place in Australia

I accidently stood on Alain Prosts nose . . .

So that's how he got that crooked nose, often wondered.

Sorry, I couldn't resist :D

well that was a safer joke than the rest of us were lining up!

I figured Brimma would have come out with the ‘Carry On’ type joke

I think I'm just very misunderstood :o

Anyway, my nose isn't far off the size of Alain Prost's, so it would be unfair to take the p*ss :rotz:

But there is one bonus - I'm not French  Hi-hon, h-hon, hi-hon

When can I book myself on the next diversity course ?
