skoda felicia crash - worth repairing?

Featured Replies

hi all

i have a skoda felicia 1.9L engine (s reg) which i bought last yr for about £1200.

very nice car and very efficient with fuel (which made it even more interesting). Loved it.

Last month it passed its MOT with no problems at all.

However i had a little accident recently (bodywork in front and both lights damaged, as well as a leaking radiator) and the quotes I get are around £500-600 to repair.

Is it worth repairing do you think?

It was my first accident and dont know how to react now. Im thinking that I can repair it, and then sell it. Or buy another one, and perhaps sell the parts of my old skoda.

I'm not thinking of scrapping it. The can was running fine, its only got 75k miles on it, new cambelt at 60k, new brakes last year, recently changed tyres. It's still turns on first time no problem and drives (i have driven it a few yards in my driveway, obviously not suitable for long journeys with damaged radiator).

Any opinions would be very welcome as I'm at a loss.

Many thanks!

All depends on the exact damage. It's probably not worth a great deal of money but then if you scrap it you still need to finance a replacement car which may well be more than the repairs to your car. One option is to do the bare minimum to get it road legal and safe and not worry to much about the cosmetics and leave any bent bits that won't affect the headlights and parts like that.

If the car is reliable then just pull out the worst and fit two headlights and a radiator and drive on. The engine is good for quite a few more miles yet so depends on how much you like the car but as a scrap car it's worth very little money in todays market.

Same as what Rav said

My felly would have got written off as a panel change (rear nearside) was about a grand.

But since it was borderline and the other party was at fault I had the new panel fitted.

Otherwise be prepared for the worst and keep an eye out for a replacement car.
