Engine Fan coming on when ignition off

Featured Replies

Hi All

Have any of you had this problem, the battery was being drained over a 5 hour period but could not find out why until I went to take dog out for walkies about 11 and herd the engine fan come on.

I have herd of the same problem with an A6. The solution from Audi is to wire a relay into the ignition switch to cut power to the fan controller when the ignition is switched off.

Also the battery was left on charge overnight but was still sluggish to start after 9 hour charge

Any help greatly appreciated.

I think this has been covered before on here. I'd suggest doing a search but with all that's happened to the forum I doubt that would get you very far!

IIRC, it has something to do with water getting into a relay under the bonnet somewhere and shorting the fans on, even when the car is off. I'm sure someone on here will be able to give you a slightly more in-depth explanation than that though!

Thanks Karlos

Did a search, makes sence as I had the bonnet up yesterday looking for the power drain and some rain did get into the fuse box.
