I hit 60k last night. No more warranty :( No more free AA cover :( (Not that I ever used it :D )

So how has it gone?

I have had 60k of completly trouble and hassle free motoring. The only work thats been done other than a few enhancments is routine, even the original brakes are still in good condition. I am only on my second full set of tyres too (Changed about 2k ago). Fantastic.

There was a small issue of a paint chip but after 60k you tend to not worry about it so much. I have just serviced it and it's running fantastic and it is loving the lastest batch of biodiesel it's running on giving me an overall average of 52.3 MPG over the last 10k

Just a quick note on some of the mods I have done (Being as I don't give a fig if the Mole sees anything anymore);

1. Rear anti roll bar - Get one, really tighens it all up and gives you a car that handles much better than a lot of others (Shows the Fabia VRS up in the twisty's)

2. Dragon Box - Good upgrade, but not a smooth as it should be, lacks power at the top of the curve despite the green filter - Better off with a custom remap although for £150 (If you can get them) it's not to be sniffed at.

3. Hids - Fantastic. A lot of people moan about the headlights. Stop moaning and do something positive about it. The Roomy with modules works very well with a decent kit and although the legal standpoint is clear, when these are fitted right they are every bit as good and compliant as OEM's

4. Leather - If you can get the kit for under a ton then it's a must have. I paid to get mine fitted, but I now wish I had just done this myself as the fitter made a few mistakes (Not connecting door switches, missing clips, rattling trim, loose drivers seat after it had been taken out with the wrong tools.... :o ). It makes the seats far better over longer journeys, especially if you ad a little bit of lumbar. It's also great if you have a two year old with a penchant for puddle as it's just wipe clean :)

I might even treat it to a Bluefin and a cambelt/waterpump in the new year :)

Edited by Decron

I'm just reaching 50k, service booked for next week. A few more issues than Decron - I can only get 10k out of the front tyres, so they're up for renewal again before the service. I have replaced all the discs and pads - rears were completely shot, fronts less so, but still needed doing. Reversing sensors have given up the ghost for the second time, throttle position senosr is away and both will be replaced at the service. More worrying is the offside rear tyre which is worn heavily on its inside edge - I've asked the garage to have a look to find out why. Their diagnosis without looking is a bent beam because there is nothing to adjust in the rear suspension. I don't beleive them - something must be worn, but we'll wait and see. Other than that, the car continues to run well, I've done no mods and am very happy with it apart from when I get the Furby out of the garage and take it for a spin and then I come home and think that a Roomie with a few extra bhp and more torque would be more than ideal.

If you park 2 Roomsters side by side, do you get a semi-detached? Hopefully you won't get a flat!

i'm up to 93k in a may 07 roomster 2 1.9 tdi

serviced it myself after 60k, independant garage did my 60k / timingbelt (he is an ex skoda mechanic)

i get about 40k out of a front set of tyres and 70k out of a rear set (i do do a lot of motorway work kent to birmingham several times a week)

no probs apart from a minor front end shunt about a year ago and a rear bearing at 80k, just coming up to my first set of front brake pads, rear pads will probably be changed about 110k- 120k

the 2000 octavia 1.9 tdi it replaced was retired at 236k original clutch / exhaust

get a bit od stick for it at work, it is known as the pope mobile (cleanest name i can quote on here), but it does what it says on the tin (roomy) and tows my trailer well and economical average 52-55mpg (550 - 600 miles per tank of diesel)

Great to be able to read the long term reviews.

Great to be able to read the long term reviews.

now at 105k miles, front N/S bearing failed

could have something to do with hitting pothole on the m25 few weeks back (before all the ice damage was repaired) at 70mph at night in the rain so it was not obvious until you hit it

I think we have a good demonstration here of just how much difference a good driving style can make. Some folk drive like rally drivers all the time for some unknown reason; it never seems to occur to them that it's a great way to spend a small fortune on fuel, brakes and tyres. Personally I learned the lesson over 20 years ago and have never looked back. No I am not a 25mph coffin dodger but I see no point in going racing with some of the other loonies who inhabit our highways.
