New vRS....

Featured Replies

Should be collecting from the dealer any day now.

Apart from the obvious checks on body and paintwork, interior and that all the electric bits work, are there any particular things/known possible problem areas I should check for before I accept the car and drive off?

Make sure you search the forum for the rear brake noise problem if you dont already know about it. Seems so common that i doubt there is a standard VRS without it. Basically you get a loud groaning/grinding/foghorn type noise while reversing and braking.

My Dealer is currently investigating this with Skoda Tech for me.

If you hear a rattle when you drive coming from behind the steering wheel, check the parking ticket holder, thats usually what causes it! I put a parking ticket in there and the problem goes. I just leave it in till i next park, although you can remove it.

Other than all the obvious things thats all i can think of. Oh yeah, there is one thing that is permanent and unfixable....the massive grin on your face ;)

Enjoy!

Thanks Rich. I'm certainly looking forward to having the permanent, massive grin on my face :-)

The biggest thing is to check all bodywork thoroughly for signs of damage, paint blemishes or panels not fitting properly before you accept the vehicle.

Other mechanical / electrical things can fairly easily be sorted under warranty, however if any body work is damaged it difficult to prove that you didn't do it after accepting the car.

Enjoy your new car.

Thanks, here's hoping it's dry, and still bright daylight when I pick it up...!

Have had my gleaming new red vRS for exactly 2 weeks now and it has done nothing but rain since, cant wait for a nice day to give it a real try out.

Mind you I do live in north east of Scotland so its fairly unlikely I'll get a decent day before June next year

Well, handover's set for 9am tomorrow but Tesco Insurance (ARGH) kindly timestamped the change of car for 12.34 so I can't actually drive it away until then :-/

And the weather forecast for tomorrow is warm, bright and sunny YAY!
