Torque drive convertor plate noisy. Auto

Featured Replies

Hello guys.

I need some help with reckoning what the repair price could be roughly.

My Skoda Octavia 1999 1.6 GLXi has a problem with a gearbox.

The problem is that there is a strange ticking coming out from under the bonnet.

On Full Service the expert has put:

I need to know roughly how much it costs to drop the gear box and have it fixed.

I mean here the job because don't know what parts are required yet.

Please help.

When was the gear oil last changed? It's not in the Skoda service schedule, but ZF transmissions (who should know if anyone does) recomend changing every 50_000 miles (80_000km).

There is nothing mentioned in the service book. I should also say that the last entry in the service book was in 2003 :)

Most probably oil hasn't been changed at all.

Start with a transmission oil change then; It might well not be the solution, but it's an order of magnitude cheaper than changing the transmission.
