YETI Rally Scotland

Featured Replies

Was marshalling at the start of Achray stage in Rally Scotland weekend before last. All course cars were Skoda Yeti 4x4. Must have been around a half dozen(chief marshal, time keper, spectator control, spectator safety,000 and 00cars) on loan from Skoda. A good test for the cars running through rally stages but don't think I'd like to buy one when Skoda go on to sell them as ex management/demo cars. Can photos not be attached at the moment?

I'm up for an off-road meet in Scotland....and we could form the SSMOC.

I was spectating on Errochty and Craigvinean 2 and was struck by how good the Yetis looked, especially 3K into Errochty on long sweeping uphill section of stage. If I hadn't already ordered a new Octavia vRS CR 170 for 1 April 10 I might have been tempted to consider a Yeti and stretch to the 170 4X4.....that will be a hoot. Anyway was absolutely delighted with Skoda S2000 Fabia appearance and the noise was brilliant. Should be a great season next year and will promote Skoda even further. Finally, I saw the FIA observer's car at parc ferme on Thurs night was an immaculate new white Octavia vRS. I've ordered a silver one but the white one at night looked stunning.Hope Skoda keep supplying cars to officials.....great advert for the brand. Is there a Rally Followers section on Briskoda.....if not, why not create a sub-culture?What does anyone else think?ps memory of Octavia WRC car nearly losing it at Errochty hairpin on the 2008 McRae Stages - check out Youtube. I was there. BUSTERBOY

on the second run of Achray (SS11?) the 00 car was driven by Barry Clark from Gretna who normally rallies an Evo.Unusual for a 00(course opening car) to be a normal road going car as these Yetis were(albeit fitted with M&S tyres) normally they are full blown rally cars with all the associated safety equipment. The rules must have been bent somewhat. Hope Skoda got some positive feedback on the durability of these cars. The 0 car was the debut of the Ford Fiesta s2000 driven by Matt Wilson. Impressive lift off on the stage start and round the first corner.

What mud and snow tyres were they using and what size. What was the engine nominal spec that the Yeti (what is the plural for Yeti? Is it just Yeti or Yeti's) were running? had any other modification been done to them?

Sounds like there is a good chance Wilks will get a full time Skoda UK drive next year in IRC. This would tie in well with the launch of the Fabia RS next year. First round is Monte Carlo in January and the entire rally will be screened live by Eurosport!

There is already a motorsport section on Briskoda further down the forums in the members section.

Bridgestone M&S not rally tyres, don't know any more details sorry. Not sure of engine specs but high spec otherwise. Had leather interior. I sat in one at the start as I said to the guy that found the Octavia Scout uncomfortable. For the brief time I was in it it seemed nice.If I could post pictures I would. The couple of officials i spoke to about them thought very highly of them. This was Saturday after the rally started Thurs night so they had given them a good run by then

Perhaps Skoda might rally with a Works Yeti........ Unfortunately the smilies do not work..............

Many thanks for the photo's, the old Snow-monster looks very much at home up there in Scotland. No wonder they are selling so well.

Spoke to my dealer regard Yeti sales; they are having trouble getting one for the showroom as they keep selling them to quickly.
