MPG drop after fitting CAI

Featured Replies

Hi, fitted a Carbonio induction kit about 2 weeks ago to my MRK1 Octavia VRS and my MPG's have dropped right-off! :(

Have given the throttle body a good clean, left the the engine to settle in but still struggling around the 27mpg mark, I have had the car remapped over a year ago and was always getting 34-35 back every day.

Not booting the old girl any different to usual (well sometimes a little harder on country roads just to listen to that lovely sound  )

Any ideas peeps before in the not too distance future I end up re-installing the old boring air box :'(

Cheers

Any change in the warm-up time?

How about the power output?

Maf connected correctly?, this will have been disturbed fitting the Carbonio so check all the connections are OK.

Why not just chuck the box back on for a few days and see what happens ?

Seems to be warming up as usual but the engine temp is running low.

The power does in my mind look like its taking longer to kick-in, that's way I gave the throttle body a clean last weekend.

Will double check them tonight, cheers.

If the engine's not warming up fully for some reason (or the temperature sensor is iffy), that might well give you poorer MPG and the Carbonio is just co-incidence.
