Car change...

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm thinking about changing the Vectra. I've had it a year, I'm bored and fancy a change. I went from a Seat Arosa 1.0 to the Superb 1.8T, and then from that to my 1.9CDTI 150bhp Vectra. I'm now in 3 minds on what to do...

-Go back to a Superb, maybe a 1.9 130bhp elegance

-Buy a really cheap Audi A8 and run it for 6 months and get it out of my system

-Buy something small again, I'm really liking the idea of a Renaultsport Twingo with the CUP suspension. Or a C2 VTR with the flappy paddles.

I'm really unsure, as I need economy, but I want something that looks good and is fairly quick. My thoughts are the money I save on finance with an old A8 can be spent on fuel, but then there is reliability! I also need a bit of space for a pushchair and a baby. The Twingo is just about ok, but I think the C2 might struggle.

Does anyone have any other cars that might suit me? Or thoughts on the above?

Baby Beemer?? Diesels are ecomonic, go well and look the business (although I agree they are not everybodies taste.)

I have a 118D, with 143 horses and averages 47 mpg over the last 38000 miles. This is on my mainly B road commute wher my previous Octy 1.9 DSG barely managed 40 mpg.

oh, and I no longer have to use indicators , bother with lane markings or give way at juntions!

Fiat Bravo 1.9JTD Sporting, same engine as the Vectra

imo dont buy owt french tbh because too much money and go wrong most of the time, the superb sounds a good idea imo

I too would go for a BMW :)

I do like the 1 series, especially the 120D or even 123D, but its a BMW and to spec it up to a decent BMW spec would cost a small fortune.

I'm leaning towards the Twingo, purely because it looks fun and has ok performancec and economy. I'd love another Superb, but the age, mileage and price are all a bit of a nightmare.

I guess I could wait a bit and get one of the new shape Superb 2.0 TDI CR 170's with DSG and flappy paddles :p

After trawling through loads of cars I have finally binned the Vectra!

Bought an 05 plate Volvo S60 2.0T Sport in a dark silver/grey metallic. All the toys and a nice perky engine.

Was a bit of a mad choice but ooooh its good! And makes a nice noise!

Thanks for all the advice guys!!

I shall give it a good wash tomorrow and then post some pics up for you :)

3 weeks now and it still puts a smile on my face! Apart from the more frequent visits to the petrol station!!
