No sale!

Featured Replies

Went into my Skoda dealer today with the intention of finally signing on the dotted line! After the preamble he made a shocking offer for my p/x. (Genuinely bad, not just low....bad!!)

I mentioned other quotes I've had and he said no chance. He then made what I thought to be a rather amazing comment. "Come back in february when the vat offer ends and I'll give you more. The VRS will be more expensive though!" Smacks of blatant profiteering to me on the back of Skoda paying the 'vat' discount. Needless to say, he didn't get a sale.

What are you trying to P/Ex. My dad got a cracking P/ex against a Fabia, in fact almost what the car is now selling for at another dealer. To me it sounds like the dealer just did not want your car at all, so offered a stupid p/ex he knew you wouldnt accept.

There is nothing wrong with trying other dealers as they might be more accomodating with the p/ex.

if you want convenience - px, if you want a good price, sell private and buy via drivethedeal! :)

What car are you trying to P/X?

I am just about to do the same tomorrow with the drive the deal price. If the dont give me what my px 56 BMW 320d SE is worth then they obviously not wanting sales.

Is naming & shaming allowed?

It sounds very much like a dealer I went to very early in my search for my Octavia, a certain one at Ewhurst, Surrey.

Why not shame, we should know the good from the bad.

get them named

Have to say the offer on p/x for my fabia wasn't great so I'm keeping it until the new year and then selling it.

I would try other dealers thought first you might get a better offer.

I was in the same boat last summer, list price for the vRS and silly p/x price and no dealers bothering to call me back (tried 3). So in the end I went with DtD, still trying to shift my old car but even if I go to auction or webbuyanycar, will still be quids in. It seems the way to go now, maybe the traditional p/x deal is at an end??

I saved around £3k on the new car, and should be at least £500 better off selling the car at least.

Just to defend the Ewhurst dealer - they have looked after good friends of ours superbly - could not match DTD but were within £500 and included mettalic. Also have loaned a car whilst they await delivery of new obe (currently 4 months!)

No px in this deal but blooming good service!
