Using a little water and dodgy temp gauge

Featured Replies

My car is using about 300ml of water every month or so. Just enough to trigger the water alarm. Also when im driving the temperature gauge never stays at 90. It generally hovers around the line just below 90. I think the 2 must b connected. I have had the water system pressure tested and the water pump is fine. Any ideas from anyone. I have a 51 vRS.

are there any signs of leakages? temp sensor housing at the back of the head? the seals perish and start to leak

Na, no puddles underneath the car.

Any gunk on the oil cap? Might be a head gasket......worst possible scenario that is....

No gunk in the oil, the head seems fine. Think i will try replacing the temp sensor and see how that works. Not too expensive an option to start.
