Facelift dash display help

Featured Replies

Hi all

I took delivery of a S 1.6 diesel facelift Octavia (standard) 10 days ago. I have had 2 main problems in the first week. 1st being a water leak in the rear foot well which turned out to be coming from the front bulk head the 2nd was that several lights on dash were glowing on when the lights were turned on. This was rectified by replacing the complete dash cluster.

What i am asking may or may not have anything to do with the above. After i received the car back i noticed that central on the digital display it was displaying a picture of a petrol pump and a number of miles, persumibly before you have an empty tank and not the temperature as previously. I went into the dealership as i wanted to have a few of the settings changing including having the central locking open all doors on 1 turn of the key and not have the central locking lock once you start moving. I mentioned to the dealer and they said it shows the temperature and not what had been displayed and i double checked while i was there and it was the temperature. I am not sure why it had reverted back to the original display and how i could get it back to show milage left in tank.

I have played with things and cannot get it back, the dealer says i cannot have had it...... but it was there!!

Have any other users had this or know how to get it back or other settings to be displayed like, MPG etc???

Kind regards

Kyle

Did you try using the stalk dipswitch at the end? This should scroll through the settings of the computer.

Just have a look in your manual (that was nice, wasnt it? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif )

On the S you don't have that control on the stalk. I used to drive a VW Bora and that had one and you could display your option of; MPG, Average MPG, Temp, miles left in tank etc.. But not on this model unfortunately

Unless someone can tll me otherwise...

if you change stalk with buttons on the end you can have full trip computer working, dash already have functions for tripcomuter.. you need to change stalk and recode your dashboard.. it is so easy on FL octavias..

.......and another vote for reading the manual over here !

What mileage was showing against the "fuel" symbol?

Does it switch to that once you are running low?

When i picked it up it was showing 30 miles but i filled it and it raised to 150 after putting £20 in....

That would be fantastic! Do you know the part number required and is the dealer the place to get it? How easy is it to fit? would it need to be re coded by the dealer or can any garage do it?

All excited!! thanks for as much detail as poss

Just looked on the optional extras and the trip computer is not available on the "S" would it still work?

Kyle

it sounds like you now have the trip computer enabled. My guess is that its present on all models, just that without the correct stalk and coding its effectivly disabled. The same is true of cruise control, all models have the software to control it present, its just a case of enabling it and getting the stalk and it works.

Really odd...... When the tank becomes low and the fuel icon appears on dash the miles left in the tank appear also BUT once filled up it stays in the mode that shows you how many miles in tank. Doesn't appear to be a way to change it back to the temp. Poss a glitch in the software?

How much would a new stalk cost? plus fitting? plus re coding? Must this be done at the dealers? I'm in the North East of England

Thanks for any tips

Kyle
