Fitting new Stereo - help

Featured Replies

As I reported earlier my radio has croaked!

I plan to fit a Sony cdxs 2000 radio/cd - just basic stuff.

I know I will need a fascia adapter to fill the gaps, but the local ICE guy reckons I will need an antenna adapter - can anyone advise what this is.

You need an adaptor to supply power to the aerial or you will get no MW reception and poor FM reception.

Its an antenna booster (amplifier) the standard radio has one built in, I have one here to fit in mine, I just gotta work out which colour wire to connect it to (anyone any ideas ?? )

I fitted a similar Sony to my wifes Octy LXi. It did not need a Fascia adapter other than what it came with but it did need an antenna adapter as the socket on the Sony did not match the plug on the end of the lead. I bought an adapter for a couple of quid from my local car accessory shop. Watch out for the wiring as you will find that the stereo will loose its memory every time you switch the car off unless you swap around a couple of leads as VAG cars have non standard wiring. See the following thread:

The aerial boosters are usually around

Which colour wire is the best one to take the 12v feed off ??

Sorry mate I don't know the colours without stripping out the HU. You should use either the 12V ignition feed or the 12V Aux/Att. output feed from your head unit if it has one.

Cheers
