help needed with fabia tdi electrics

Featured Replies

hi looking for some help

my dad has a 2003 Fabia 1.9tdi elegance

has been getting an occasional fault but is happening more and more now

while driving the following lights come on ABS,airbag, power steering

daslight go out, speedo stops working radio stops working, no power steering or starter motor

the fault will usually rectify itself after a short while all will go back to normal except the power steering, but this will rectify by stopping and restarting the engine

hoping for ideas before it packs up completely

thanks in advance

Check the battery connections and have the battery tested for a start.

thanks for the reply

have checked the battery connections

not sure it could be the battery as it allways starts 1st thing in the morning even with these really cold mornings.

reading the workshop manual all these seem to relate with the "electrical system control unit"

anyone know if these give any trouble or where its fitted so i can check the connections

thanks

Electrical system control unit is above the drivers side parcel shelf trim. Before you rip that out, check the link fuses on top of the battery for corrosion/bad connections. Also check the battery earth to inner wing.
