Two different offsets on same car

Featured Replies

Hia lads after a slide in the ice the other week, i ruined two of my wheels. But i have a chance of buying two of the same wheels at a cheap price. THe question is, the other two wheel i have are a et46 and the two i was going to buy are a et45. theres only a mm difference but would this affect the car in anyway? say if i put both the et45's on the back or vice versa? Would this be okay? Or am i going to have to buy a full ew set as i cant find any et46 anywhere!

1mm offset difference not a problem mate.

What would work out best two same offsets on the same side or on rear or front

put both on the same axle, put the ones that stick out the most on the back.

as long as they are on the same axle it shouldnt matter. its just like puttig a set of spacers on the car, it should be ok. TBH 1mm is nothing

You will be OK to do this, as already stated its just the same as putting spacers on to vary the offset. I'd suggest you put your existing et46 on the front and the new et45 on the rear (they will stick out 1mm more) as the rear wheels are normally more inboard relative to the fronts.

One point to check though; I assume all your wheels will be 16" or 17" but is the rim width the same on all the wheels i.e. 6.5J or 7J?

18" inch mate, and they are coming with 225/40/18 tyres which i think is 8j

THese are the same size tyres i also have on my other wheels so i presume so but i shall check

The 8J reference is the wheel rim width measurement, its independant from tyre width. I'd be surprised if they were 8J.

I'm concerned for you. If your existing wheels are OE spec then, on 18" rims, I'd expect them to be 7.5J. Whilst a small difference in offset is OK I would not recommend using different rim widths front to rear.

On the other hand with the with the mention of 'RS8' in the description above, do you have after market wheels already? Either way may I suggest you check and double check.
