Featured Replies

Happy New Year to all from myself and Jules and here is a detail we completed at the end of 2009 in sub-zero conditions:

This is bandit1's very tasty MK3 and many thanks to Graham for letting us give his motor some TLC..........

I love the 'Octavia' in the headlights. Top work as always - Well done you two.

Great job on a great car :)

Who's is the car on here, hopefully he'll post later on!

Can I ask a couple of questions please?

I'm new to detailing, I've slowly been gathering the gear to attack my car in the spring so please bear with me!

I notice you use 'Last Touch' when you dry the car, is this a quick detailer and why do you use it?

also,

Is a foam lance absolutely needed?

Sorry to hi-jack the thread and thanks!

Tom

First class job as always, i just wish i had your'e enthusiasm for cleaning as my car is minging.

Just had a look on DW. Brilliant job, looking forward to you doing mine hopefully on Sunday 17th Jan

All you have to do is use it once and you will see how good it is....it leaves a really shiney streak free surface....(from a "last touch" convert)

Mk3? You been time-travelling, Baker?

How much does that kind of detailing service cost?

Very nice indeed.

Luvly jubbly - nice work Simon and Jules. All the best for 2010 folks.

Cheers,

Ste.

nice job mate , your threads on detailing world are great the pics show all the detail keep it up, are you detailing full time now with your own premises or is it still a hobby.

Tom

That's my car !

Simon & Jules did a fantastic job & also educated me in the art of detailing at the same time.

Cannot recommend him highly enough......

Cheers

Ask any questions, not a problem, PM me if you ever have any.

Megs Last Touch is a pretty versatile product as it can be used as a Quick Detailer, a clay lube but also as a Drying Aid, in this instance I was using it as a Drying Aid. It allows the water to be absorbed into the Towel and leave a streak free finish.........

I personally only use my foam lance when 'detailing' cars, I don't use it on my own as I don't think it's needed, I see it more of a toy to come people and something that looks good, it's fine to use if you want on your own car, just be careful to get a sensible mixture in the bottle to ensure that it doesn't strip any protection you may have on the car off.

No worries mate, all ready for that one..........

Nah mate, I am just not a fan of this FL MK2 business and thought it might be easier to just label it as a MK3 but maybe not...........

Will drop you a PM..........

This is still a hobby for me, both Jules and I have Full Time jobs but we enjoy doing this at weekend's sometimes to have a laugh and show what we can achieve in a day............ :D

The unit we use is some old work colleagues that very kindly let me borrow it when required...........

Thanks for making the trip Graham and I hope the car will be beading for many months to come..........

No problem at all, it's a great product and it's one of my key tools I use, Jules loves it, especially the smell, hmmmmmm coconuts.......... :giggle:

Baker21,

If you don't mind me asking, what mix/dilution of snow foam do you use?

Yeah, it's a Mk2, face lift :) Certainly not a Mk3!

Same as my Golf is a Mk3 face lift (OBDII spec) :)

No problem, lately I have been just filling my lance bottle up 3/4 with Snow Foam, then adding some CG Citrus Wash and a small amount of Bilt Hamber HD Surfex to ensure that I get as much off the car as possible before washing and claying.........

Looks a super job mate. I'm a bit new too all this and would like a bit of advice if I can? What would you recommend for the interior cleaning? Megs APC or Sonus Cockpit Detailer?

I've also looked at the Sonus Leather kit on roll up and shine.

Product wise you can use Megs APC pretty much anywhere and for interior cleaning it's pretty good, I use it and it works wonders, as for a final dressing then Sonus Cockpit Detailer is OK but there are better products on the market such as 303 Aerospace Protectant...........

Sonus Leather kit is good but I have recently started using Gliptone Intensive Leather Cleaner and Conditioner, these are really good...........

Excellent, just the response I was looking for. Now I have some products to aim at. Have you tried the poorboys interior stuff?
