Drivers Subframe

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have a Fabia Vrs 53 plate. I have tried fixing the drivers seat subframe as it has lots of play in it. I called main dealer and asked them and it £225. I now thinking of cheaper options. Any ideas.

I got a local VW scrapyard and wondering in the polos or golf have the same as the Vrs?

Hi Gaz, when I bought my Fabia I couldn't get comfortable behind the wheel. I had been used to bigger cars, and there just wasn't enough leg-room in the Fabia. I wanted the driver's seat moved back and as I don't carry passengers in the rear I didn't think it would be a problem especially as the seat runners are already drilled and I thought that it was just a simple procedure to drillout the floor to match the two rearmost (unused) holes in the seat runners.

Boy was I wrong. Skoda main dealers and independents refused to touch it for fear of contravening Health & Safety regs.

Modern-day Gestapo "experts" whose purpose on this earth consists of saying "You can't do that," and getting paid for it.

After trawling every garage and workshop I could find, all with the same answer, "NO - YOU CAN'T DO THAT" I stumbled across a tiny garage which specialized in converting car controls for disabled drivers. It took him about 10 mins. to do the job for me and he refused any payment.

I now have the extra 2" of leg-room which has transformed the driving position for me.

So, there you go - find a garage specializing in disabled driver coversions.

Bob.

Polo or Ibiza seats from the same years could/should have the same seat frame
