Octavia Elegance...

Featured Replies

Need a bigger motor so thinking about trading my 53 plate Fabia VRS with 49K on the clock for an Octavia Elegance with 17 inch wheels and sports suspension May 06 plate with 79K on the clock from a dealer.

Octavia is £6900 and have been offered £4000 for the Fabia. Both cars are immaculate and the Octavia will have the timing belt replaced, two new wishbones and two new tyres at the front put on it. Car is also MOT,d for a year.

The only thing that bothers me is the mileage..should I be bothered or not?

As long as it's got FSH and the cambelt has been done, I wouldn't worry.

Neither would I, my Octy Elegance is well over 90K miles and going strong and will be making another run to the Costa del Sol in a few months time, taking the mileage to well in excess of 100K.

We have an Furby vRS and an Octi Elegance estate with sports and 17" upgrade. I love them both and my wife really enjoys driving the Octavia.

I find the suspension on the Octi abit more compliant than the vRS (even though both share a 45 profile tyre)

Cam belt will get done as part of the deal and has full dealers service history...

Take it its a completely different ride from the Go Kart I drive just now?

Consumption much different?

Without knowing what engine the Elegance has it's too difficult to say what the consumption difference will be :-)

Its the 140bhp..

My 2.0TDi 140, trip computer reading on trip 2 is on an average of 55mpg right now. The trip computer is slightly optimistic, so its slighty less than that. This is over the last 3K or so miles.

The wifes vRS only does about 40mpg when she drives; she does 10 miles to work on single carriage A roads and so is stop start traffic. When I take it on a run we see 47-50mpg at NSL.

On the Octi I am averaging 44.8mpg (caluclated via my spreadsheet) with my route but then I am more lead footed in it and it is better since I did an ECU reset (well the battery died and it reset the ECU). Over Christmas it was a full car going to the parents and out and about and it was averaging 50mpg at NSL (I think Maxidot is fairly accurate based on my calculated versus trip 2 average). I was used to 48-49mpg out of my old Toledo TDi 110 but then that was a smaller car and I cruised at 65mph due to the 5 speed box.

I prefer driving the Octi to the Fabia on my day to day drive but love the Furby for a weekend blast :)

My car did 45mpg on the last tank. Never bettered 50mpg. That is for my 50 mile commute on A roads at a sedate pace. Best I've had on M way was also 50mpg.
