Ordered 1.2TSI today !

Featured Replies

Hi there ! First posted quite a while ago here with tech question on the Yeti...nice to be back.

Well..we just put in a order for 1.2TSI Elegance dressed up in Muscovado (or Mato Brown as the call here in The Netherlands)

It's destined to be my wife's car primarily for the school run/shopping etc....but looking forward to put my hands on it every chance I get ! We initially went for candy white but brown's her favorite color so we went with that in the end. We reckon it'll look sporty with the mat silver side mouldings which will complement the front and rear protection plates and silver roof rails.

As for the driving we really think it drives great, it's composed and exudes quality. Cruising at 120km/h at just 2650rpm is very relaxing. Skoda have really done it with this one !

10 weeks to go till we get it... :'(

Congratulations! My two main colour choices were Muscavado and Candy White - I think I would be happy with either but now just love the white - not biased!

sounds nice, that engine has been getting some brilliant reviews, would like to try it out sometime

Indeed, same hp and more torque than the normal aspirated 1.6 engine from the VW group. Apparently, they're going to make the 1.4 TSI (122hp) available in the YETI in the next few months to plug the large gap between the 1.2 and 1.8 TSI. On the other hand the O2 is gonna get the 1.2 TSI as well.

I guess the 1.4TSI seems sweet in the YETI, but it pushes the car to the next road tax/insurance bracket, so were well pleased with the 1.2 considering the limited mileage my wife accumulates per year. Besides, chiptuning is already available for this engine (new figures: 126hp and 225nm) if someone feels the need for it...

Interesting to hear that the 1.4 tsi 122bhp engine is going to be available in the Yeti in the next few months. Where did this information come from? Was there a timescale as I do not think this was in the build plan which covered up to June this year.

I thought VAG had issues with supply of this engine so were not going to offer it on other models in 2010.

Your probably right Delboyyy. I read it in the Dutch Auto Week (6-13 January) where they tested the trio Yeti, Qashqai and Sportage (Yeti won btw!) - where it mentions in the beginning the big gap between the 1.2 and 1.8 TSI and quotes "we can confirm very soon that the 1.4TSI used in the Octavia will also be placed in the Yeti". This leaves open the interpretation that it will simply be announced by Skoda, but this speculation or even knowledge has been known since September 2009 where a dealer told me that it was in Skoda's 2010 release timetable. They'll have to do something about the supply of the 1.4TSI if they want to release the Yeti in China with that engine:

Looks like a China Specific engine choice, as it is already built there.
