non-VRS on -30mm eibach springs

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm looking for some before/after pics of a non-VRS octavia with -30mm eibach springs...

Also experiences are welcome...

PS I've heard that with springs you sometimes have the dropped-ass-syndrome, I mean that the rear of the car is lowered more then the front, any truth in this?

Thanks!

B

yeah i had these on a 1.4 octy, lowered the back more then the front but looked ok

hmm that's something I don't want to do... no lowering or coilovers then :S

do you have any pics?

If the back of the car ends up lower than the front then you have fitted the wrong springs.

Springs for the MK4 golf are not compatible with the octy at all, they will fit both front and back without any problems, BUT the octavia has a much heavier rear end due to the bigger overhang for the larger boot. Result of that with Golf springs is that the back end sits lower as the spring poundage is wrong.

If you get springs that are designed specifically for the Octavia then the car should sit level, just as it does now.

that's great news... well I guess a lot of people end up mounting golf MKIV springs onto their octavia because they're easier to come by... I also came pretty close to buying a set of those :dull:

anybody any pics? I want to know if it's really worth the effort...

Thx

Ditto would love to see a non RS estate lowered with 17s or 18s

eddyh had a 4x4 estate to die for, not sure who has it now though but a quick search of his posts and you should find it.

Edit: although after the server move recently I'm not sure if all the old posts are back on line yet? Any Mods about to confirm?

well a 4x4 has again a different suspension setup compared to an standard one so wouldn't be good comparable.

so anyone? hard to believe nobody here on the forum has a standard octavia with lowering springs...

cheers

Here you go:

It looks much lower at the rear because the rear wheel near the kerb is sitting in a drain. ;)

It's a Koni STR.T kit which claimed to lower by 30mm. Looks loads better than it did anyway.

One thing to think about with just getting lowering springs is it will put extra pressure on your shocks so might be worth getting a full kit or you could end up havinng to do the work all over again to fit new shocks.

upping this one, do you have a pic when the car is level?

anyone else? other brands?

cheers

I had Apex springs on my sierra and they felt good, not harsh. Sells them here My link

well I'm looking for brands which don't have the negative tilt (rear lower then front) on an octavia... so far from what I've gathered on German forums Eibach springs are the only ones who don't have this issue

H&R, Apex, Weitec, ... all apparently suffer from this (Koni was not discussed though)

but I'm looking for as much info / pics as possible before making a purchase I would regret

cheers

very nice car  however I meant a non-vrs car(e.g. 1.9TDI) :-)

what brand springs do you have? you seem to be a bit lower on the rear compared to the front

it also seems more then 30mm, even for a VRS, have you measured before/after?

cheers

Here's my (filthy) TDi lowered on Weitecs . . .

OK, hopefully this one will do the job! The car is unusually clean too . . .

P.S. - probably worth noting that this is with adjustable coilovers, so I have them set front and back so it sits 'just right' (at least to my mind, anyway).
