My new Red VRS, Oh yes!

Featured Replies

Well after waiting 111 days the moment finally arrived and I could take delivery of my new VRS CR DSGemoticon-0148-yes.gif

The weather this morning was terrible with very heavy rain. I had to wash my ST as it was in such a state with all the recent snow and ice so I got soaked doing that. Anyway all done, did'nt bother drying itemoticon-0114-dull.gif

Over to Bedford and they had kept the car inside as I had requested so I could inspect it closely. Two problems emerged -

It had not been cleaned and polished. This was 50% my fault and 50% dealer fault as I had said originally not to prepare it as I was going to get it detailed by Baker21. When I saw it last week it had already been prepped and the foreign valeter said he would go over it again yesterday but it did not get done as contact between me and the salesman was patchy as he was away most of the time doing jury service(not his fault).

So they quickly set to to give it a quick cleanemoticon-0104-surprised.gif

The other problem was that I had immediately spotted that the boot 'vRS' badge was broken with most of the 'S' broken off. Somewhat annoyed at this as it has been in there workshop for over a week and no one noticedemoticon-0145-shake.gif

Needless to say no badge in stock so will have to make trek over to Bedford just to get it changedemoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

Also finance docs were trying to charge me interest. I'm on a 0% deal so call to VW Finance to get it sorted.

Anyway finally on to the car and its great, engine is even quieter than I remember from test drive and gearbox is a delight to use auto or manual. Performance is very impressive for a 170hp diesel and very pleased with whole car.

My Nokia 5800 connected with no problems with OEM Bluetooth kit and works brilliantly, glad I held out for this optionemoticon-0148-yes.gif

The grip from the tyres surprised me, they are even better than the Goodyear F1 Asymetrics that I have been used on my ST for the last 2 years. They are Dunlop Sport Maxx GT I will do a separate thread on these.

I asked for 7 items to be enabled with VCDS and 4 are done, 2 are not and hazards on with panic brake I've not tried yetemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

  • Activate DRL’s (Daytime Running Lights)
  • Turn cornering light function on (foglight)
  • Just 1 rear foglight to work
  • Auto locking to activate when moving off
  • Hazard lights to come on with emergency braking
  • Disable synchronised mirror adjustment i.e. make it separate left and right operation
  • Activate ‘teardrop’ last wipe function

No 2 and 7 not working yet

All in all very pleased with my new car, Corrida Red looks fantastic, for me I've made the right colour choice.

Will be cleaned in the morning as it will be sunnyemoticon-0157-sun.gif

Corrida red the best colour! Youll have to give your verdict on the DSG box, personally ive heard great things.

When its clean we need to see pics!

Nice one on the motor, poor show with the badge, hope you get a bottle of screenwash/oil or something out of it. Hope you get it detailed well, as soon as the weather warms up I'll be out with the DA. So far the paint shows a healthy 130micron of paint, better than the 90 ish of my old Mazda!

Hazard lights to come on with emergency braking

I had this enabled on mine using VAGCOM, but it doesn't do anything, nearly chucked my friend through the windscreen testing it out! (was fun though)

I think it must be an Audi feature, but would be interested to hear if yours does work.

Congrats Malc

Shame about the glitches

Pics?

congrats, look forward toi the pics, like the ST, red'uns are a bit rare!

glad the probs werent enough to detract from the new car feeling :)- ps i bet the badge was from the valeters drying cloth!

Well it was nice weather today for a change so I washed car. The wheels were polished and waxed.

Very pleased with my purchase and it certainly seems an imposing car, more so than the Focus ST.

Still trying to digest all the info in the 4 handbooksemoticon-0144-nod.gif

Pictures:

I have taken quite a few but there does not seem a way to upload from my laptop to this site.

I am not loading them onto external site (flickr etc), too much hassle

If anyone wants photos PM me your e-mail address and I'll happily forward them to you

Its easy, click full edit at the bottom, don't use the quick reply. Then there is a big attachement button at the bottom!
