hmm what to do?

Featured Replies

I need you lots opinions.

I've got two options atm with regards to changing my console bushes

1. do I just get the front console bushes upgraded (£150 at unit 18) and get cruise control retrofitted

Or

2. Do I get all the bushes changed (£250) and scrap the cruise control idea

Option 1. Would cost slighty more but I don't know which will reap more benefits

Is there a lot of difference in fitting new wishbone and arb bushes? And do these get worn as easy as the console ones?

Thanks for looking

If your going to do the bushes I would do them all at once because the tracking will need adjusted afterwards. Save you having to get it done twice.

what other bushes are you going to be replacing ? i wouldn't bother with the front wishbone powerflex bushes, the original bushes rarely fail and the difference between them is negligible

cruise control is a very nice extra, especially if you drive on the motorways often

do you think its worth just doing the arb bushes and console then?? not wishbone?

The wishbone has two bushes - a rear one (console bush) and a much smaller front one. The rear ones are the ones that give trouble, the little front one should be fine if the car has done less than about 100k. The bushes themselves are cheap - I would recommend upgrading the console bush to the Ibiza Cupra type (cost less than £9 each).

The ARB bushes are cheap (only about £5) and easy to change, just two bolts each side to remove the clamp, pull the old one off and put the new one on (with a bit of lube).
