Stream Radio

Featured Replies

Hi I recently sold my Octy and left the sat nav in cause dealer offered £500 extra, so I'm now left with the original Stream radio. I beleive this will only work with the car it was originally installed in so my question is would I be able to sell it ?

Yes you can sell it, but you will need the radio code. To sell on here you must be a member of freedom otherwise your for sale post will be deleted.

..... and if you haven't got the Radio Code; you can give the VIN number from your car to a Skoda dealer. They will be able to look up the code for you.

I'm pretty sure it does not need a code as it's paired to the car, I know when I removed the battery some time ago, when I reconnected it did not ask for a code hence my question would it be of any use to fit in a different car

It can be used in a different car if you have the code. This will pair it to the new vehicle if I remember correctly.

No code, no use to man nor beast - apart from maybe use as a paperweight :)

The 'code' is the fact that it is (as you suggest) paired to you car; it doesn't have a conventional 123456 digital code.

It can be fitted into another Skoda but to enable this to be done the unit needs to be programmed, using the VIN number, to be 'accepted/paired' to the new car.

So if the radio is connected to a different car it will then ask for a code? do you mean the VIN no from the doner car or of the new one?

It will need to be programmed in advance of fitting to accept the VIN of the new car; but you need the VIN of the 'old' car to be able to instigate the change (rather like changing a password on an e-mail/online account - you need old first and then new) Skoda dealer will do it for you/the new owner.

Helpful or more confused?

I bought a Stream MP3 off here without a code. Just took it to a Skoda dealer and they looked up

the code for me :)

Mike's correct - I bought a Stream MP3 with a code as an upgrade to my non-MP3 stream.

Once I'd figured out how to enter the damn code (!!) all was fine and the code worked - no VIN coding required.
