Try this if you have maxidot

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I was traveling up from Kirkham today and when I started my car my Columbus sat nav froze on but I was able to switch the sound on and off only by pressing the power on button on the unit, just out of interest when the sound was on I checked the maxidot and there was the usual mfd, radio, navigation, assistance & setup displayed when the sound was on, when I switched the Columbus off the music stops but the unit was still on and unable to be used with respect the any of the functions (must inform the dealership).

As expected when the music was off the maxidot did not display the radio & navigation, however an interesting find was that when the music was on I was unable to do anything like volume, touch screen or even any of the buttons would work, but during this time I was able to display radio 1 on the maxidot and by chance when I pressed the up and down button on the wiper stoke the radio channel changed.

After 10 miles of driving the Columbus unit switched it's self off and on and all functions worked as they should, I tryed the wiper stoke again and it works for changing radio stations that are perprogramed, cd tracks, SD card tracks, HDD tracks and I assume it will work with MDI but I am still waiting for the dealer to get me the lead for my iPod.

My car does not have a multifunction stearing wheel and this may also work on the CD/Radio as well as long as you have maxidot I would think.

You can also configure things like anti hijack which locks the doors after you've set off, using that facility.

Hi all,

If it was around 16:15, I passed you going in the opposite direction!

I'd prefer to control the volume with the switch than the channel tbh but thanks for the hint.

How can this be done?

How can this be done?

In the setup menu on the MaxiDot, select Convenience and then Auto Lock (this is from memory so may not be quite right)
