Right the front is all cleaned up and the coilovers are back on with the top nuts on as they should be. Its a good job I got new top mounts ant bearings as there others after nearly 2 years were shot and the bearings were in bits and fell apart on removal.

THAT IS WHY YOU NEED THE NUT!!!.

Ill get pics of it all nice and clean ish lol, I also did the oil and filter change along with removing the front brakes and scrubbing the hubs and discs. also copper slip on the guide pins so they dont seize.

Also rubbed some fluid into the piston seals.

I have not bothered putting the new ball joints on tho as the ones on seem pretty solid to me and have no play that I can tell.

On the drivers side CV joint I have noticed a slight bit of play in it???

When I first put the coilovers on I accidentally nicked the cv boot and I had a ticking (which now I know was from the brakes) so the garage replaced the CV joint and boot. the boot was not an OE part tho as its made of rubber. that is why I am having to replace it again.

I take it that to put the Boot on they will need to remove the cv joint? If so should I get an OE cv joint while they are at it? as the play is not bad but is more than the other side which has NONE.

I cant see why it has play tho as its only 18-24 month old and has not been without grease.

cheers billy

OK

Mark I tried turning the box the other way and I cant get it to fit and the spring cup is in the way so Ive left it and turned car round to TRY start the front.

Hi Billy yes the spring cup is in the way if you just twist it or turn it, you need to undo the nut far enough to pull the box out of the way of the cup and then reposition it. Then retighten the nut.

and I only needed to use the jack on one side too.

Yep I found that out as the suspension is so dam strong, it makes adjusting it easier.

Are you sure it is play and not just the drive shaft taking up play in the gearbox. Think mine had that.

na mate it is deff the cv joint as the shaft doesnt move but the hub does. you can feel it as there is no resistance there really. the other side is fine which is the original CV.

I am just starting to wonder if that is the reason the boot has gone due to the play? its only a few degrees but over time with the twisting it might of ripped the boot?

gonna get a price on one in the morning so we shall see.

Oh an Mark, I didnt need the tool in the end lol they just slid off with a small push. mind I couldnt even get in to use it so It was a good thing lol.
