Bolero Radio

Featured Replies

Just obtained a new Octavia Estate 4x4. Is the Bolero radio digital, if not why not. Can you get radio4 on 198 it appears that you cannot, how are you supposed to listen to the cricket, which is not transmitted on FM. If the radio is not digital then many of the programmes on radio 4 long wave 198 are unobtainable. Channel

Welcome. Digital (DAB) radios are still quite rare in cars, especially as standard. DAB also doesn't seem to work very well while moving.

I understand you can get a twin antenna adaptor for the back of the Bolero, that will allow you to pickup LW. That might only be for AM though, sorry. You'll need to do a search on the forum to confirm.

Hope you're enjoying the car apart from that!

Cheers,

Steve

Does the Bolero not receive AM signals then? Digital radio can be received on quite cheap to buy digital radio. Most of these work by sending an FM signal of the digital program to the car radios blank or empty station pre-sets.

Digital radio isn't very good.

To prove the point the government has suspended the development of all further multiplexes until further notice.

So I wouldn't bother with it for the time being as FM is going to be around for a few more years yet & they're going to have to do something about the quality of DAB in the immediate future.

Thanks for the info. The car has been brilliant especially in the current weather. I even offered a Land Rover a tow.
