Remap Booking Dates

Featured Replies

Weren't they looking for bigger premises - perhaps they're sorting them out today - what with all this extra Skoda remap traffic ? :lying:

They are racing in the VW Lupo Cup - could be that they have a race this weekend.

There is probably website somewhere that gives the dates and venues for this race series.

You could check that to see.

Mine is booked in for 11/7 - cant wait!!!!

Hi Steve,

isn't this your first posting in the forums (apart from PMing me about the remap)?

Welcome again!

Cheers.

Adrian.

Hi Adrian

Yes - my first post on this forum! - first of many perhaps?

Just got back from Hereford to collect my new red vRS - Guess what ? - it was not there.

The dealer came up with some story about the ship being loaded in the wrong order and all the red ones are on the back!!!!!!!!

Supposed to be ready for Thursday - it had better be or I will be even madder than I am today.

They lent me a lovely blue Fabia with a beige interior - Yuk!

Cant wait until Thursday - fingers crossed.

And Yes, you can expect a close run with BMWs soon. The shock factor does count on the road !

Interesting. However, can 225 BHP through the front wheels really compete with 230 through the rear wheels?

With the sheer mass of the Octavia, what's the practial limits on it's performance using front wheel drive? What kind of 0-60, 0-100 and quarter mile times would a normal and a remapped vRS post?

Do we have some kind of nutter who does timed quarter miles? Got any figures to dazzle us with? :)

My vRS har been tested with 180bhp and 220bhp, these were the results:

180 bhp, 0-60 7,5 sec. 0-402 in 15,8 sec.

220 bhp, 0-60 6,7 sec. 0-402 not tested.

I can say that the 330 CI beemers are a little heavier then my 220 bhp vRS in the long run.

FWD and RWD is a difference. Would I like to have 4WD? Let me think... YES!

Your 220bhp figure is spot on what I've recorded for my 220 4x4 and also the official Autocar roadtest (which had 220'ish bhp as well, not '180').

I have been known to enjoy annoying a BMW or two as mine is an estate. I watched a 52 reg 318i convertible driver experience the 'elastic-band-effect' between roundabouts yesterday :)

He wasn't happy but then seemed to give up...

The "180bhp" roadtest with 0-60 in 6,7 sec is in my oppinion a big big lie.

The best time you can make is 7,4-7,5 secs in the "180bhp" vRS.

Don't fall for anything else guys...

Agreed.

Mind you, I did find a full roadtest the other day of an A4 Avant Quattro Sport 1.8T 180 (very similar engine & weight to mine) which they suspected had been 'breathed on'

The 0-60 ? - 6.4. - So another corroboration (is that the right word?!) :)

It's a shame that Audi & Skoda do this "marketing" to their cars.

In the long run I think it's better to be honest about performance.

To the Audi doing 6.4 secs, one could ask himself how it can beat the Golf R32 official 0-60 times wich are (manufacturer) 6.6 secs.

/FD

Admittedly on gravel and with two people \ bootfull of junk - but 6.4 is what I got in mine - an A4 avant is substantially heavier so that does look a little suspect!

(that said, I need to do some runs on decent tarmac \ stripped of unneccesary weight)

I find that one even harder to beleive than the Autocar test; I mean if a "breathed" on Octy does 0-62 in 6.7secs how can an Audi A4 with the same power and the weighty quattro drive train do a quicker time?

Mind you was it the new 190bhp engine (+ a little ECU magic;) )?

Cheers.

Adrian.
