Maxidot & Cruise thanks to Ben (aka Shark Performance)

Featured Replies

Big thanks to Ben of Shark Performance PLC for fitting a new dash pod with Maxidot and Cruise control on my VRS

Well recommended if you are thinking of an upgrade, it certainly makes a difference to the inside of the car, the cruise is a must have.

Best part is you can use the MFD stalk to flick through tracks on the Columbus, it s not a MFSW but better than nothing.

Before and after pics included.

Also for sorting my ECU checksum problem, I don't fully understand the issue but it required a re flashed ECU at the main dealers to clear the warning lights. Luckily it was a recall.

Thanks Ady

What's the cost of adding maxidot?

I will let Ben answer that, I wouldn't like to quote his prices.

Maxidot is fully functional MFD (Multi function display) which alllows full user information, the part comp shown in the second pic only allows limited information to be displayed.

Maxidot does have it's uses............ B)

Looks like a good result :)

I want one again now :'(

Ben is performing similar surgery on mine next Thursday (maxidot, already got factory fit CC on the Elegance) :)

The main reason for the change is not specifically to get the maxidot but to replace the instrument panel which has a number of inexplicable cracks in the perspex front panel just in front of the computer display and which spoils the otherwise pristine interior. Seemed silly not to do maxidot at the same time!

Knew I had a pic' somewhere...

scratch_dash.jpg

Still can't work out who or what could have caused that...looks like it was attacked by a wild animal :S

it is no problem to change maxidot with VCDS... no problem at all...

What changed?

ALL IC or just the screen?

Thx!

Indeed you are right, as I use VCDS to perform the task emoticon-0148-yes.gif

The entire instrument cluster is replaced with a different one, it's the only way.

Ben - as well as a remap coming up, can you please PM me a price for the same work to replace the standard with maxidot please? 2008 vRS.

Ta,

Andy :)

You need the SKC of each cluster and each car, and VCDS to program them in.

Well , my vag comander1.4 do not read the skc from my car...I guess I have that code from my key, is in a white plastic ....

How much does swapping these over cost? Also would I have to supply my own new dash panel?
