New Firefox Released

Featured Replies

Mozilla has announced that the 3.6 update for Firefox, its popular web browser, is incoming and should hit the web around 5.30pm today.

The message on Mozilla's blog is brief but to the point, noting: "Firefox 3.6, the world's best web browser, will be available Thursday, Jan 21st. See what's new at http://bit.ly/8a0Kux."

I've been running the betas along with FF stable for a while, and completely switched when RC1 was released.

The taskbar page preview works (most of time) on Win 7 now :)

Have abandoned FF if I'm honest. I'm a chrome convert now!

Spend most my time on a MAC using Camino, another Mozilla browser that only works on Macs. Chrome is actually quite similar to it so took to it instantly on the PC.

Just over 1hr 10 mins from now, so it should be available for download at 17:30PM UK time.

Too shiny shiny for my liking

Well I see my work PC is downloading it at the moment...

Maybe this one will fix the memory leaks? Mind you, they've been saying that for some time :dull:

Still the best browser overall, given the flexibility of add-ons, IMO.

Google Tweed?

Just noticed the memory leak problem on mine now lol! :giggle: 127MB and rising!

Wow. Didn't realise people still ran FireFox. ;) I guess it's easy to convince yourself you need all those plugins and greasemonkey scripts.

All about the Chrome. B)

Tried chrome, did not like!

I am a FF fan boi!

I'll use Chrome when they bring out NoScript and AdBlock for it..... that'll be no time soon then

Oh and its fugly!! :)

So, who's taken the plunge?

I thought the latest version was 3.4.7?

Was 3.5.7

I have zero trust of google.

Trust No ****er ;)

Safari all the way :p

I have installed on my office PC, although its only used to test that our website works ok in other browsers. So far it seems ok to me.

I have used Safari and do not find it anywhere near as convenient to use as Fire Fox. With Fire Fox I can instantly access translations for foreign web pages, I could not find that facility on Safari. Maybe I did not look hard enough possibly. Also transferring the thousand of favourites was a real hassle and not anywhere near user friendly. i never did get it right. I was glad to go back to Fire Fox.

I use Safari on my Mac, I think its great

I'm a Chrome fan boy now, love the simplicity, and its the fastest browser I've tried.

Whats the deal with add-ons? Am I missing out on something?

I'm actually finding IE8 (on works machine) a lot slicker than previous versions.

I was a FF fan, but it gets on my tits now and seems slower than any other browser I've used!!

As today is now Firefox release day + 1 and it looks like we're having a 'my browser is better than your browser' thread - at least Babs hasn't said his petrol powered browser is uber alles - then I'll let someone else start another thread to finish that line of thought off. At least I'm happy with the new Firefox
