Bluetooth - GSMII or GSMIII / RSAP on Yeti?

Featured Replies

Hi all, ive heard varying answers to this one but am I right in thinking that, wgen specified, the UK Yeti comes equipped with a GSMII system that allows full compatibilty with the newest Apple Iphones?

Im looking to get either an Iphone (more likely) or Android based phone in the next few months but wont have my Yeti until April so dont want to make a bad decision.

Any advice would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Lee

The iPhone 3Gs works fine through the Columbus - upgraded last week. Everything is there - call lists and contacts.

Excellent, thats good to know. :)

Now to find the cheapest iphone deal.... ;)

for those without the Columbus

iphone 3GS works brilliantly with Bolero/Bluetooth in my wee beasty

Hi,

Could you please let me know what the Bluetooth GSMII kit is exactly? Does it come with a cradle, and if it does... can you get rid of it?

I'm about to order a Yeti 170CR Elegance ("experience" here in France) with optional Columbus unit and optional Bluetooth GSMII kit.

All I want is enter the car with my phone (iPhone 3Gs) in the pocket, let the columbus connect to it, and pass and receive calls straight from the Columbus using the steering wheel commands or GPS screen. Is it the way it works?

Talked to my dealer but he wasn't really sure, all he got from Skoda France is that the Columbus works with iPhone 3G "+" (whatever this means).

Cheers.

PS: will do proper introduction later when and if I order...tested it today and was quite impressed.

Here in DK, the addition of Bluetooth preparation from Skoda was more expensive than adding a Parrot. I added the Parrot, which functions well - but not through the Columbus other than the speakers and radio mute. Did not rally like the added gear, but the voice function is OK and the Parrot manual inteface is easy to do - even in the dark by touch.

hiya snoopy....I dont need a cradle or any other gizmo...just pair my iphone with the pin code to the Snow-monsters bluetooth the first time and "et voila" the car bingly bongs when its paired. No fuss, no bother.

Thanks for the quick answers, and that's great news about the quick pairing. Exactly what I want.

I just hope that the cradle is easy to remove (comes standard here with the kit dixit my dealer).

In France the bluetooth kit is 270 Euros but I'm getting 14% off on the total order plus they take my old car back at full second-hand value...Skoda is still very small here, never see them on the road.

I was pretty annoyed that Skoda Netherlands didn't offer the GSMII option with steering wheel intergration on our recently ordered Yeti. I would have liked to order this option off the bat. Couldn't imagine in this day and age of high tech that such options wouldn't be available.

Skoda Netherlands Head dealer's argument was that the current system was buggy and they didn't want the hassle of repairs. They'd prefer to wait for the new system GSMIII/RSAP... Pretty poor show. Besides, I hear that system is far more picky as to what it pairs to, so I must be missing something...

So, my local dealer went aftermarket and found a company in The Hague that installs the Skoda premium bluetooth using the button (circular arrow) and scroller on the steering wheel to control various functions. Fully intergrated to the Bolero (mic, speakers, phone button etc) and apparently it will also be possible to read incoming SMS's on the maxi dot as they have manipulated the software. Cost 575euro installed and warranted by the dealer. Not cheap but the OEM option would have been close to that anyway. Sometimes I call my wife and don't like the feeling when there's no answer, especially when she's with the kids. I was offered a Parrot system, but being a fan of fully intergrated uncluttered systems went the extra mile. Will give a more detailed review when we get the car !

Same here, no problems at all.

You can't tell us this and not give the name of the company or website address !

After all Holland is just a short haul from Harwich and only a slightly longer one from Hull (or somewhere up there on the east coast).

Holland is also a superb place to visit with friendly english speaking people. I went there many years ago (20 odd) with the wife and two kids (age 9 and 11) having been told "When you get off the ferry at the Hook turn left and use the cycle paths to get to Scheveningen (I can spell it but not pronounce it). When you get there look for a blue triangular sign with three Vs and that is the tourist information. They will find you somewhere to stay"

That was the sum of my knowledge before I set out. Had a fabulous holiday.

Yeah, sorry mate ! Here's the link:

Translated google link

I was assured that it will operate according the language set in the Bolero/car settings (ie.English). Quite important as I'm not dutch myself.

edit: Prices are wrongly indicated in pounds due to the google translation. All prices on this site are Euro's !
