Felicia -Overheating, and fan not working

Featured Replies

On a Felicia, the fan should cut in when the temp needle is 3/4 of the way up. If the fan is not working, locate the temperature switch on the lower left of radiator (seen from front). Pull the two leads off the pressure switch and short them together, eg with a paperclip. KEEP fingers/hair away from the fan as there will then be a fat spark and the fan will run. This will make you jump, so keep well away from the fan. If the fan starts, check that you have enough coolant or add water as a temporary measure, then keep the two leads shorted and the fan running. DO NOT open the coolant reservoir tank as it is pressurised and hot. Let it cool before replenishing lost coolant, if necessary, and then open slowly and cautiously to avoid scalding shower. You shouldn't overheat with the fan running, and this simple fix can get you home.

Remove paperclip on arrival (or the fan will keep on going) , and change the temperature switch asap.

or give it a sharp rap with a heavy screwdriver.. usually get them working again, the contacts stick a bit
