A few questions and what to try next?

Featured Replies

Why does everything go wrong at once!

1. I have a leak and the carpets smell like a wet cat. I have checked the rear door seals which have been sealed by the previous owner. I have also checked the bulkhead to see if it is blocked like a Passat (impossible on the Fabia as the drainage hole is massive). Broke the clips on the wiper panel in the process though (cheap purchase I know). Where else can I check? I notice a flap like arrangement on the blower should this be permanently open? (found out this is recirculated air flap)

2. My front NS fog has been smashed, where is the best place to get one the matches the original. EBay?

3. In the icy weather over the last month I ran out of screen wash, I foolishly topped it up with water which turned into a lump of ice. Popped the rear pipe behind the panel and the one on the bulkhead (both fixed back on now- that rear panel is a b*tch), but I also think it has cracked my screen wash bottle as it now leaks. Is it a bumper off affair? (found out this is wheel arch liner off)

I have several cars previous to this which I used to fill with water rather than screen wash and never had any of these problems. The washer system in a Fabia is poor.

Other than that both headlight bulbs have gone within 5 days of each other and have also noticed my rear wiper has been clashing with my spoiler (when its frozen it goes stiff and hits it – New wiper time me thinks).

Rant over! If anyone can help with the above it would be great.

Thanks Gavin

front doors also leak, so check them

Ebay is a good idea for your fog lamp

wiper hitting the spoiler  it should miss it by quite a bit, so maybe the wiper blade is too long

Sure theres a guide on here somewhere about fitting a larger washer bottle... that should give you a good idea of whats involved in fitting!

i believe that does involve the removal of the front bumper to fit, it is a VRS washer bottle when fitted with xenon headlamps

I have found the page

I will try the arch liner first to see if anything has popped off. Seal the front doors, new bulb and put on a new wiper. Feels like I fix it more than I drive it at the moment, and these are just little things.

if you are going to take the front bumper off, make sure you have the new fog lamp unit, as it is ery easy to fit with the bumper off, but a pig/nigh on impossible to do with the bumper on

Fixed my bulb (start with the easiest job!). Where is the best place to get parts for my Fabia, I tried to get some panel clips today from VW and was told they cannot help. Apparently they are only allowed to sell parts for VW’s, and do not have access to the other VAG part numbers. Which is a bit of a joke considering the parts are covered in VW and Audi logos. Anyway went to Halfords then they had some. The reason why I askthe above is that the rear wiper not just a 14†blade, it’s a special 14’’ blade and is it a Skoda only part?

Both front doors sealed and pipe checked under NS rear passenger seat, so fingers crossed no more leaks. The front doors looked as if water had been passing through them, due to white staining. Investigated my washer bottle (through the wheel arch - don’t even have to remove the wheel), cleaned it up and refilled it and looks as if it is the valve that connects to the washer pump is leaking. I have silicone sealed it for the moment, but does anyone have the part number? So I can get a new one. Please can anyone let me know the part number fog light and is the rear wiper 6Y0955425.

Thanks

Dont really know from that image, possible could be an item that comes witht he washer pump? It looked like this sketch :)

washerpump.jpg

A bit a description to help understand my drawing:- bottle left with rubber washer, pump slots into it, power cable in top and then some sort of valve (that pushes on to the pump) that allows water to got to front or rear, and then the water lines to the washers either side.

Thanks
