OMFG! 312mm Brakes Rule My World!

Featured Replies

What more can I say?

Thanks to EddyH for selling them to me, and to JBS for fitting them (oh, and to myself for painting the calipers green lol).

Progressive, Great Feel, Good Looking...

And best of all they stop like no other car I've ever had before!

SKODA. YOU SHOULD FIT THESE AS STANDARD!

If anyone has a Fabia vRS and a remap, they should SERIOUSLY think about getting a set of these.

323mm brakes are better :P

What pads have you got Josh? I still can't believe how good my 312mms are with the ds2500 pads. Just simply awesome - only downside is it shows how bad your rubber is. Hit the brakes hard and sharp and the abs kicks in, even at 3-figure speeds :o

I luv'em to bits

Another public service brought to you by the Neo_VR/Ross Clarke possie... pushing the boundarys of fabia tuning :D

323mm brakes are more bling :P

Even swmbo has noticed a massive difference with the 312mm setup. Agree this should be fitted as standard or as I dealer option.

 to the Neo/Ross possie

:bigcry: I want big brakes but Ive got FS -III which cant be upgraded!!!! Not coming out to play anymore!

Shame mate because they're awesome!

I told my dealer principle today on the phone that 312's should be standard... He said he's going to think about fitting some to their next demonstrator!

Dont supose my local dealer could get me some could they? I must have some! :)

*Sigh*

Go on then, what's it going to cost me....

:)

I've got a list of part numbers somewhere sure your friendly dealer would get you all the parts necessary... at a price

Andy, are you coming on Thursday to our Jekkyl and Hide pub meet ?

You're more than welcome to try them out, but I gather that may be rubbing (pads) salt :P

Josh and all,

The main benfit to this upgrade path is the use of the uprated pads and discs now or in the future :D

I imagine from Neo's reports of his pre 312 adventures to psot and from my 312 to 312 modified that the difference all round a.n.other disc+ pad makes, might be a leap almost as much again.

However Colin (Neo) does feel his is overbraking on the front a little. Having being in Pauls Octy on 312's std calipers but DS3000's you can feel your brain move ;) More than adequate for our level of performance...I love em as I think you do too.

If I have but one option on any new car from now on; I'd choose braking first and foremost; unless it comes with BIG dobber calipers inc. from the factory.

:( i hate FS III brakes!

is there no way of modifying the carriers at all? arg.

....anyone feeling like crashing their vrs for me...so i can pilfer your hubs

I'm more than happy with the braking performance of the standard discs and pads on my 312mm setup.

When my pads wear down, I'll fit some uprated ones, but until I make these fade (which I've not done yet, and I've been hammering them) they'll do just fine!

So, what parts would one need to make 312mm disks fit?

Assuming a carrier at the very least.

I think this was discussed some time ago. IIRC, you need a new wheel hub assembly so you have the correct mounting points for the different calipers. How many parts and what part numbers a "wheel hub assembly" involves is beyond my very limited knowledge. And because of the latter, I may be talking out of my **** :D
