Front Bumper removal

Featured Replies

Has anyone got a full proof how to front bumper removal. I had a quick look this morning as I noticed mine is broken in the mid section under the car and also hanging down maybe 2cm round the wheel arch sides.

This is what I saw this morning have I missed anything:

Remove all wheel arch screws

Remove screws from underneath (are there just 2) one in the middle and then one on the righthand side - both of these are missing by the looks of things - anyone got a part number? Or can just confirm it is only 2 underneath.

I didn't pop the bonnet, but I guess there will be some here somewhere

Any behind the bumber itself?

Cheers

I have found this on the Seat website are there doesn't appear to be much on the search for this on here. ARe the octavia's much the same, can someone adjust this accordingly:

1. Disassembly

a. Firstly raise the vehicle to a convenient height on lift or stands, and to give the best access to the wheel arches remove both front wheels.

b. Open the Bonnet.

c. Remove the front grille upper cover with a flat blade screwdriver to unclip the locators. Then remove the 5 plastic clips from the upper edge of the grille using a v type trim tool as shown in the second picture.

d. Remove the 5x T20 torx screws inside the front edge of each front wheelarch and the Philips screws that are located just above the top torx screws (they sit just behind the wheel arch liner).

e. Remove the remaining two arch liner rear screws to allow removal of the wheel arch liner.

f. Undo and remove the two nuts (8mm) on the bumper retaining threads, on both sides of the vehicle.g. Remove the 2 Fog light grilles.

h. Remove the single T30 torx bolt located behind each of the fog light grilles.

i. Remove the 3 large Phillips screws on the underside of the front bumper/spoiler.

j. Disconnect both front fog light and the ambient temp sensor electrical connections.

TIP:- At this point it is a good idea to put some masking tape (14 Day type that is easier to remove) on the vulnerable areas of the wing and headlights, that could get damaged during the bumper removal.

k. Lift off the front bumper cover, take care in manoeuvring this around the edges of the headlights; it will be a tight fit if it has never been removed before.

Thanks

This one should work..... Clicky

Have we all got the 2 screws with the large washers underneath holding the front bumper on as shown in the clicky from bertee?

Could someone else check theirs for me if you get a minute (mine's a 54 VRS)

Mine looks like it should have although both are missing and when I asked the parts from skoda I was told the front bumper locks into the splash guard underneath and doesn't screw on, but when I have looked (not much light before work and then after work) mine looks like it would be identical to that in the clicky with the 2 screws.

Now a bit confused and worried I will still needs these parts come fixing the hanging low middle section of my bumper come this weekend.

Don't forget the little plastic brackets.

Thanks Bertee for showing my Front bumper mod, like the advertising

amh, No not all the cars have those 2 screws and washers. Mine did not until i fitted them. In fact I can't remember seeing anyone elses with them :S

They are not needed but as my car sits low i wanted to get as much clearance as i could underneath

Are you sorted?

There are torq-style fasteners on both wheel arches (3 or 4?) a couple underneath at corner ahead of the wheelarch - this will separate the fill-in plastic sheilds between bumper plastic and wheel arches, then there are a few on the underside along the centre, three exposed when you lift the bonnet and two behind each side pull out grille. Once all these are out (assuming they were all in in the first place), use a wide flat blade screw driver to prise back the black rub trim at either end (ahead of the wheel arches) to expose fixing plates held in place by to 10mm bolts on either side. Whip out the bolts and whole shell should then just pull forward and off the car! 15 minute job at the most!

Just glad I didn't take the picture with the screws underneath to skoda and tell them they don't know what they are on about as I have evidence. :giggle:
