vrs 55 boost problem

Featured Replies

The turbo blew in my car so i put a new one in now its squicking and at high revs dosent give power and then after about 10 mins all power goes and engine managment light comes on

Was all the debris from the blown turbo cleared from the system? Was the turbo oil line replaced? Was it a new or recon/2nd hand turbo?

As the man says, SOMETHING's putting the car in limp mode. It's definitely worth checking all the work you did on the repairs, and maybe even ensuring that you haven't ended up with a K03s - which while being capable of producing more boost due to the bigger compressor wheel, would also need a different map to the one your car currently has. It's also worth checking you haven't popped a boost hose somewhere, as loud turbo + no power + limp mode after a few minutes are also symptoms of that...

I'd start by checking the turbo-intercooler-manifold pipe joints, because that's fairly easy to do, and cheap to free to sort.

Unless the flange around the end of the hose that the rubber boot on the intercooler inlet mates with has sheared off, in which case you're looking at nearly ninety quid just for the part... DAMHIKT!
