312 brakes from VAG cars

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, just want some info about upgrading the front brakes.

1. What parts do I need to do the upgrade because I want to go to some breakers and see if they have the parts.

2. How long does it take to do them?

3. What is a good price to pay for them?

Thanks in advance for your help

p.s picking up strut brace from seat tomorrow

p.p.s is their anywhere i can get some stickers from briskoda and any other vrs merchandise

If you look in the articles section of briskoda you will find a FAQ on how to change the front brakes, including pictures. Excellently put together by Ross, thanks Ross :D

You will also see the parts you need: calipers, carriers and disks

Remember if you are not mechanically competent or unsure it may be wise to seek help doing this modification, we don't want any accidents. Std brakes are better than no brakes.

Right i have tried everywhere looking for barkes from octy, which other cars in the vag range would have the 312 calipers and discs?

audi TT/ leon cupra(not R)these may or may not have the wear sensor on the pads

Just to add to Jason's post:

Audi - TT/S3

VW Golf or Bora models - V6 4motion/Anniversary/180 GTI/V5 170bhp(I think)

Seat - Leon 20VT/Cupra (not R)

Regarding discs, I certainly wouldn't want to re-use second hand ones. Sourcing 2nd hand calipers and carriers, yes! but not discs.

Stuart Tunstall (euro car parts) does cheap OE-grade 312mm discs and when I bought mine, it came to about

I got EBC standard replacement discs for

Oh christ you lot have confused me now... This weekend i might be buying Audi S3 front disks, calipers, and carriers with 18000 miles on them for 90quid.

Shall i tell him to forget about the disks and get EBC ones?

Personally I would. And at the same time buy some new pads.

Riteo, so you rekon Audi S3 calipers and carriers, with DS2500 pads and EBC disks? Are the EBC disks still 312mm?

well they are if they are for an s3 etc etc

dont suppose this guy has any more s3 stoppers ???

Thats the same setup I have. The only reason I say get new disc (don't have to be EBC) is then that way you know the brakes are in A1 condition. So not warped or discs getting thin.

I have had a few replies on the wanted post I put up on there. So there are some more S3 stoppers kicking about. Let me know if you wanna know details

if they are the same similar price im interested yup thanks

Whilst were on this subject could you not buy calipers and carriers to suit the EBC 312mm disks from a shop? Or am I barknig up the wrong tree completley

(why arnt cars straight foward :()

90 is cheap as discs and cariers from skoda are about 350 i think

well in theory you could find someone who sold calipers of the required size say brembo/wilwood/hispec etc or maybe from the people who make them for the vag group

oh yeah is the octy master cylinder any larger ??

Can anyone tell me where to get the EBC disks from, and also the DS2500 to suit the calipers. Would like to get the wheels in motion as soon as :)

Cheers

Just out of interest would the calipers from porsche fit the fabia? What specs do the calipers need to be in order for it to work?

Cheers
