I have just bought a 2002 Octavia VRS with 57k on it. I believe that it is now due a cambelt change. Does anyone know of a specialist that could do the work near to Epsom, Surrey? Also what sort of price should I expect to pay (cambelt, tensioner, waterpump and coolant)?

got mine done at the stealers in ewhurst nr cranleigh in surrey really good garage actually and wasnt as expensive as i thought!

do what i do and travel up to unit 18 takes about 1.5 hours but @ £35hr you wont find better

Been quoted £365 for cambelt, tensioner and waterpump.

As Westallc suggested i gave unit 18 a email , and this is there reply

" I'm assuming it's an octavia vrs if it's 2001? If so it'll be

roughly £300 to change cambelt,all tensioners and waterpump with

coolant and that's using all oem skoda parts

I have used A H Autos for all my vag work recently & cant recomend them enough, fantastic service, a real knowledge base of anything VAG & excellent pricing. Im driving from Winchester, they are that good

Interested to read the quotes shown in this thread as I need a cambelt change on my Octavia II 2.0 tdi and will be getting it done it the Surrey / West Sussex area.

I contacted the dealears at Ewhurst and they quoted £560 incl VAT for the cambelt / water pump. Surprising that this is so much more than for a VRS at the same garage (£420). In fact, surprising that it is so much full stop! More than my previous car which was an Impreza turbo at a Subaru garage.

I've queried the price but did not receeive a reply. Now looking elsewhere. I did try the VW garage in Horsham but they said theat they did not have the right diagnostic equipment.

Just to say that I would thoroughly recommend VAS motion. Final cost was £350 which was below their estimate and was done with all genuine parts. They also gave the car a check over within the price which was much appreciated as I had only recently bought it at the time.
