exposed interior panel/casing, pass footwell

Featured Replies

I bought my wife a nice Fabia 06 1.9 tdi yesterday. Very clean, low mileage. But as soon as we brought it home we realised a problem.

In the ceiling of the passenger footwell there is an exposed panel (right hand side).

I wouldnt be too bothered but it seems to be part of the ventillation casing so when you start the car you get cold air rushing down to your feet.

The vents themselves emit heat ok and the direction switch can disable them fine but the cold air keeps rushing independently.

It seems that the missing panel probably encases or covers the cavity so it solves the problem.

Would anyone know what to do next? The guy I bought it off was a trader and never noticed it himself. What would people recommend? Does it sound like it can be sorted by just having a part installed? Would the skoda dealers be the best people to do this?

Cheers,

Chris.

Sounds like the pollen filter cover. There should be a pollen filter in a frame, then a cover that clips over the slot.

You were spot on. Just put it into the dealers and they diagnose the pollen filter cover is missing. They quote £50 including labour to put right.

OMG! unless that was a private sale, take it back! That should not be missing and you yourself should defiantly not have to be paying for it if the car was supplied by a garage!

Also, if it's just the door/cover that's missing (and I'm guessing the filter it's self?) you could just by the parts, it's a very simple job to replace as long as it;s not missing due to the filter housing being broken in some way?

id say take it back polen filter is quite a vital componant to go missing like that, let your warenty cover the costs

You should be able to get the garage to pay for the repair or repalcement of the pollen filter/cover, as its something that should be there. Dealers are bound by the law to sell a car in roadworthy condition and that, in my opinion, isnt in roadworth condition.

try here, this may provide a bit more info on what action you can take:

£50 to fix it? Oh my god that's a serious p*ss take, It's a small j-shaped black plastic cover that takes about 30 seconds to fit. Take it back to the dealer you bought it from and get him to provide you with the cover for it.

Otherwise just buy the part and fit it yourself it can't be more than a few quid.

£50  Must be fitted by naked dancing girls for that money.
