Electric folding mirrors on Elegance?

Featured Replies

So I popped down to my dealer to check my new car had got all its options fitted ahead of picking it up in March and I noticed that the door mirror adjustment knob didn't have the folding picture. I mentioned this to the dealer as I thought the Elegance had electric folding mirrors as standard and he said the brochure might just mean electric adjustment and manual fold. I said I don't think that was the case, but either way it doesn't look like my car has this fitted (unless they've just stuck the wrong fascia on the knob and the function is actually there!). So I was wondering if anyone else with an FL Elegance can confirm whether or not they have the electric folding mirrors?

Thanks a lot.

  • I'd prefer something that just zaps people who come too close to my car, let alone the wing mirrors!

the elegance we test drove had them, and we're fully expecting them to be on the FL elegance we've just ordered.

mind you, the demo we drove had maxidot, which that particular dealer didn't mention wasn't standard.

Hi I have a FL Elegance and have electric folding and adjusting mirrors,

use them all the time.

Thanks for the replies - I will query it with the dealer tomorrow. Don't know if they can retro-fit them at the garage if they have somehow been missed by the factory :/ I was rather looking forward to having them on this car.

I'd be interested to know if they can retro-fit as they weren't an option on the vRS but it was the one option I would lave to have ordered.

Mine has them too, operated from the button and the key fob.

I got my car at the beginning of December and it has folding wing mirrors too.

Had mine 8 months - fold mirrors inside car by turning the drivers door rotary knob to the mirror symbol or outside by keeping the key fob's locking button depressed.

Just called the garage and it looks like all the new Elegances they have just received don't have the option on them :( Dealer is finding out whats happened... I'm gonna be reasonably annoyed if Skoda have suddenly changed their specs without saying anything. It makes you wonder what else they've changed!

The current Octavia brochure lists folding door mirrors as standard on the Elegance.

Dealer has just come back - Skoda have recently released a bulletin that says these are no longer standard on Elegance spec cars, even though the latest brochure states they are! Bloody cheek. Bit ****ed off now. Anyway, dealer is going see if they can be retro-fitted.

You would have thought that if a car was ordered with these as standard then Skoda would be oliged to keep including them for all models until those ordered after the bulletin!?

:@

Looking at the brochure, it appears they have themselves covered with the usual get out clause:

The information in this brochure referring to specification, design, equipment, material and

external appearance relates to the time at which this brochure was printed. Whilst every effort

is made to ensure its accuracy, the information in this brochure is not binding and is subject to

alteration. Some illustrations in this brochure depict left hand drive models, with both standard

and optional equipment shown. Please confirm exact specifications, prices and colour availability

with your Å koda retailer who will be notified of any specification changes as they occur.

When did you order the car? If they were standard when you ordered it then I think they should be provided as standard when it's delivered. If they won't move on it just reject the car as it's not what you ordered. That will concentrate a few minds.

Ordered 10th December. Dealer said he would throw in a tank of fuel if they can't retro-fit them. Seems a bit of an unfair exchange to me though!

Anyway, dealer is going see if they can be retro-fitted.

If memory serves me correctly, folding mirrors are option paired with memory drivers seat at a whooping £560. Annoying pairing, I don't run 24/7 cab company, I don't share my car with 3 drivers, so I couldn't possibly justify spending over half a grand on memory seat I am going to use once in a life of vehicle. On the other hand folding mirrors were standard, one could argue if they became option at £100 let alone £560. If folding mirrors can't be retrofitted alone, then that change devalues Elegance trim by exactly £560.

A tank of fuel is ~£50, pretty poor compensation for missing electric mirrors. I certainly find them really useful and would have seriously considered having them fitted as an option if they weren't standard on my car. It would be interesting to see if anything else has changed between my car which was built at the start of November and this car.

I was told that they'd been discontinued in December when I picked my car up & that mine was one of the last batch to have it fitted as standard.

Ah well, a lot to be said for the 'older Elegance facelift' - power folding mirrors and a full size matching alloy spare wheel

What's next to be crossed off ?

Strange then that they are still listed in the January update of the Octavia brochure... :wonder:

Sorry! But a Phaser or Taser isn't an optional extra.

Yet another example of Skoda reducing value. I took a friends brand new VRS for a drive recently and it seemed less well screwed together than my 59'er. Couldn't put my finger on it but it almost felt as if they'd slimmed down the plastic thickness and removed most of the soundproofing. Weird!

If I'm honest its not really a deal breaker for me. If it was a cheap option then chances are I would have specced it, but not otherwise. I just feel a bit put out having been sold a car with something as standard and now finding out it wasn't there. I've never had electric folding mirrors before but it sounded like a fun gadget ;)

Other than this the car looked lovely - so pleased I chose the anthracite grey over the black which my car was parked next to. It looks so much nicer, and the rest of the spec is great. Really looking forward to the 1st March now!

It was one of the things that leaned us towards an Elegance as opposed to an SE, so I'll be sending an email off to the dealer to check.

Ah, but while my "early" FL has both foldy mirrors and a full-size spare, I don't get to shout at my Columbus (well, I do, but she won't listen). So you can't have everything...
