Octy vRS mpg

Featured Replies

What sort of mpg does anyone get with cruise control fitted?

Not sure that cruise control makes any difference but you should be able to get in the low 40s on motorways keeping it to the legal limit once run in. Of course if its been remapped then it should do better.

havent got cruise either but it shouldnt make a difference.

i get 30-32 round town once the cars warmed up properly and high 30's- low 40's on long runs down the motorway.

Nail it and you'll get mid 20's though :D (or less)

Jonno.(i did).

pah... on actually / current mpg it'll go to 6mpg or lower

The only thing that I notice with cruise is that say you've been driving at 60, then slow and hit resume it doesn't accerlerate gently it seems accerlerate as fast as it can!

 . never got it that low. must try harder :D

cruise will do that in any car... drove a 2.2ltr merc once and that accerated like a beast to get back up to the speed set on cruise. drank the juice though ;)

i wouldnt mind a retro fit on mine for long motorway journeys

Three times better than an octy then :D

Jonno

depends how you define better... smog...

Low 40's sounds about right on a gentle cruise - Clarkson did a test on an Audi A8 and reckoned that Cruise was not good for fuel consumption, I suppose you can't beat a delicate right foot.

I have seen a combined Range + miles done of 545 miles in a fully laden Octy vRS doing mid 70's on the motorway.

Mine is showing 27.8 for 600 miles of mixed stuff... managed 37.4 on a run today, best ever :) but i never stick to 70 so i guess if you do it would be much better.

:D spose i'd better get another octy then, and keep the furby as well ;)

Jonno(love both cars really  )

Avg about 29mpg with mostly short/town journeys, but have seen 44.5mpg on 1 night time drive of about 160 mls :) Same as any car l guess, it all comes down to the weight of your right foot

Decided to do a little test over the past week. Over a 60 mile commute (30 there 30 back). The route is through the peak district (a mixture of A and B roads) aswell as being hilly.

day one - extreme 'blue rinse' driving : 43mpg

day two - Conservative : 39 mpg

day three - Normal : 30 mpg

Day four - 'brisk driving' : 25 mpg

Day five - nailing it all the time : 18 mpg

My usual style of driving falls in the 'brisk' category unless I've got bio nav with me then I fall into the Normal/conservative driving categories. Nailing it is fun but re-fills every 200 miles at

18mpg? Is that an average, bloody hell!
