Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the wipers arms on a Mk 1 Octavia with ones that take Aero blades ? I've tried using the 'universal' aero ones and they don't fit very well and are rubbish at clearing the screen so thought can I replace the arms so I can use 'proper' ones.

as with Rob, the proper mk4 Golf aero blades are the way to go.

I got mine from vagparts.com, but I am not sure if they are still trading these days.

keep lookin on ebay too lol, got mine for 25 delivered and just get some OE new blades. 40 all in lol, and they are very nice and quiet too.

I've got the retro fit ones available from the dealers which fit without changing the arms. Not entirely sure that they are better than the Bosch normal style ones I was using, but I thought I'd give them a go. Only downside is that the normal blade for the passenger side is curved to fit to the shanpe of the screen whereas the aero blades are just straight and catch the plastic trim.

they look bad imho,

you have the std arm that sticks up then a thin strip for the wiper with a big black bit of plastic in the middle. looks naf from inside, I tried it and binned them after 10 seconds of sitting in the drivers seat. The Golf ones are nice and compact and pack away into the bonnet and the black bit at the bottom of the screen and clean up the windscreen.

the only thing I dont like about them is the block that connects the blade to the arm gets wet with the washers and its a pain gettin the screen dry properly. but minor as the wind noise is a lot quieter.

(all just my opinions as I know a few have the retro fits.)

I did try the conversion kit the dealers sell but they just dident look right, part number was 1J2988002

Hi fellas, I got a set of retro fit aero blades from euro car parts for about £20 ish a pair .... they are Bosch to and work a treat.

Another vote from me for the Bosch retro fit wipers. They look good as a cheaper alternative to the full conversion IMHO
