Fabia sdi starting problems

Featured Replies

I have been searching for an answer to my question about my 2000 Fabia sdi.

It is an absolute nigbhmare to get started. I have changed the glow plugs, checked all the relays etc and the glow plugs are working fine. It still wont start from cold though. You have to tun it over for about 30 seconds before it will fire up. Once running for even 2 mins it will start no problems when you turn it off but leave it a while and its the same.

I have been in my garage for 3 cold nights trying to figure it out.

Could it be a fuel problem? There doesnt seem to be any leaks or sign of diesel in the engine bay area.

Any help would be appricated.

Thanks

Jon

Does it turn over slowly?

Could be temperature sensor for coolant has packed in or on it's way out. Code scan might throw up more information.

Ok after much messing about and replacing parts I have worked out that the problem is with air getting into the fuel system. You can hear air in the fuel filter when you shake it and when you switch the car off you can hear it glugging like its letting air in somewhere.

After the car is switched off its like the fuel is draining away from the engine somewwhere, back down the fuel lines.

Does anyone know what this could be. I have checked the seals on all the pipes coming off the filter and greased them and put them back on but its not helping. The fuel filter looks pretty new aswell.

Could it be a faulty fuel filter?

Please help. I am at the point of scrapping the f*ckin thing lol!
