£500 cashback from Skoda UK

Featured Replies

Just had an interesting phone call from Skoda UK. Because I've ordered my Yeti before March, Skoda UK are now saying that they will give me £500 cashback when I take delivery of my Yeti. This is to compensate for the VAT increase. All I have to do is phone them back when I get the car, and give them my invoice details. Excellent.

Any advice from Skoda experts on whether this is genuine, and anything I should do now to ensure I qualify for the £500 cashback. Thanks.

Great news. The situation regarding payment of increase in Vat or not seemed a bit of a shambles. Skoda have now done the right thing

But VAT went up from 1st January, so I don't understand why Skoda would compensate you because you ordered before March?

If this is true, I'd be pretty pleased as we ordered ours last November and will take delivery 1st March.

Good news indeed. I guess this is one circumstance where it payed to buy through a dealer - hopefully there wont be many 'little' conditions that have to be met.

I've just spoken to Skoda Uk and they state they do not know anything about this offer, the only thing they can think of is if the car was ordered before 1st January when the VAT went up.

Thats a pity because I ordered my Yeti 4x4 140 SE yesterday.

This is to "compensate for the VAT increase" - if ordered yesterday, no VAT increase ?

To close the loop on this one. We took delivery of our Yeti on Saturday. I phoned the Skoda UK number this morning, all confirmed that this is a genuine offer. They're sending out a form for me to complete, and within 7-10 working days I'll receive a cheque for £500.

Was it the standard number on the Skoda UK website you rang?

Thanks

No. The person answering the call said something like "Skoda Test Drive hotline". Not sure I should publish the number on this forum. Maybe a Skoda dealer might have more details. Also note that we ordered the car 10th December last year, so that might be part of the cash-back conditions. And it might only be on the 1.2 DSG Elegance.

She also said the the cash-back offer ended at the end of March, but because our order stated an original delivery date of March, and it was only delayed until 10th April because of the build delays at the factory, then I still qualified.

Thats also true of mine so I may as well give them a buzz and ask the question.

If you dont wish to post the number could you please PM it to me.

Many thanks

If you ordered in December then the cashback will be for the vat going back up to 17.5% in January I think, BUT could you PM the phone number to me please and I'll see if I do qualify, even though mine was ordered in February.

Shy bairns get nowt :smirk:

Strange that none of us got a phone call then, did Skoda actually say it was because of the Vat, you hadn't won a prize draw :)

Perhaps you would be kind enough to PM me the number as well as I ordered mine on 18th December and its being delivered sometime this week (I hope)

Cheers, David

Please PM me the number too, as we ordered ours at the beginning of November and took delivery on 1st March.

I rang the normal customer number of 08457 745 745 today and they knew nothing about this offer.

They checked with the manager as well to confirm.

They could only think it was a dealer offer perhaps coming from the dealers head office.

Unusual though that they would say Skoda UK when a dealer would want to promote their own name.

All a bit of a mystery, be interesting to know what the form says when it arrives.

You might want to keep a low profile tarbat until you have that cheque in your hand. :)

A good point ;) I've received the form today. The return address is to a company called TTL Automotive Limited in High Wycombe, Bucks. Anyone know what connection they have to Skoda?

Anyway, once I've got the cheque in my hands I'll post more details.

£500 cheque received today, and in the bank :) The cheque was from TTL Automotive, so I don't know what connection they have to Skoda UK?

Here's the form that I had to fill in to get the £500 cashback. The number I had to phone to get the form in the first place was 0845-1649615.

They are a marketing/prospecting company that do some work on behalf of Skoda, I actually sold one of their reps a Superb.

I think this has moneyback has something to do with the new vehicle tax that came out on the 1st April, if you're order was due before that you wouldn't have to pay the extra road tax.

I rang themn today on the number given here, told the lass on the phone when I ordered and when I picked up (yesterday) and was told that my cheque would be with me in 7 - 10 days after I returned the form that she'd get in the post tonight.

I can now afford those chrome side inserts for £360.

My understanding was that it's because I ordered BEFORE the VAT increase (in December), and the £500 was to compensate for the increase in VAT in January.

Hi Guys,

I wouldn't get too excited.... I've just tried calling them myself and it would appear that it was a promotional thing - if you were eligable you would have received an email confirmation to say you qualified for the £500 cash back....... So I guess if like me, you don't have this email, you won't get the £500 cash back! (Also the promotion closed in March) :(

I ordered in November. Was ready mid-Feb, but I deferred until 1 March.

Paid the same price as agreed in November.

just to add to CJH explanation, I also tried it and was told it was for randomly selected people who booked test drives online...nothing to do with vat or delivery dates, just a good old fashioned promotion prize.

Yeti day tomorrow........can't wait!

Strange. I never got an email - in fact, they don't even have my email address.
