Yeti CR170 4x4 review

Featured Replies

Thanks scunjee - a very helpful review.

From a safety point of view for night driving I would prefer to have the instrument buttons with individual backlights - like the Superb.

Are we correct in thinking that the automatic light control if on will switch on dipped headlights plus tail lights when going through tunnels or when the sensors decide it is nightfall?

It seems that the manual headlamp position mainly is required for when you need front foglights and high intensity rear lights.

We seem to get an intermittent bulb warning light on driving with automatic light control on in daytime. The headlights are working OK in dipped and main beam positions if we use the manual headlight position but I noticed the nearside dipped headlight was off with the master switch in the automatic light control position.

Wonder if there might be a problem with the master switch?

If you're talking about the cats eyes - they are there for 'mood lighting' purposes only - all switches have in-built illumination as per other cars. Those with the sunroof don't have cats eye illumination so have to rely on memory as to where the gear lever is or only drive on moonlit nights.

Auto light control uses ambient light measuring sensor to switch the head and tail lights on. Sensor does not measure in flight visibility so lights may not come on in fog or mist (or certain levels of light where prudence she say: 'switch your lights on') when there is not enough ambient light to trip the sensor. I seem to remember that if the wipers are on for a certain period then the headlights are switched on automatically.

As TP said, there is a known fault with the Xenons if the engine is started with the lights switch already on 'auto'. Way round it (until software upgraded, if that is the fix) is to switch lights to 'auto' after engine start.

PS Edit to say: handling, ride and road holding are brilliant - Anthony summed it up better than I ever could.
