so where's the best place to get oil resistant hose and how long before a GB is organised, as I am hoping to get the OCC done before I look at doing the FMIC.

just had an email bk from jim regarding the gauze in the catch tank

These are not gauze lined but we will be able to pop you an extra baffle in the tank which will help this problem

Hope this helps

Many thanks

The problem with that hose, particularily the second link, is that it's pretty stiff and not particlarily flexible for going around tight bends in the engine bay. It's also thick as hell and pretty heavy!

I went to autoperformance a few times to sort out all my hoses, joiners and clips. I tried out some of that cheaper beefy oil hose and it was just too sturdy for the job. So I ended up having to go for the flouro-lined silicone stuff.

By the time I got a complete kit of parts together, it was winter and too cold and dark to be out fiddling! So the full kit is sat in a box waiting for a free weekend now! Hopefully next weekend if there's a nice day.....

Here's my full breather rebuild kit that I've put together:

p1020900v.jpg

Includes one-way valve (for feed to inlet manifold), PCV (for intake hose), breather pipe (from crankcase), catch can and custom bracket, stainless clips/bolts and fluorosilicone hose. I'm doing my plumbing differently to most, as I'm having the feed to the inlet manifold coming from the outlet side of the CC too, as I'm trying to minimise all oil vapours, even with your foot off the throttle. Should be pretty tasty when I'm done!

thanx mate

will it have the internal gauze layer or will it be just an empty can like most that dont work???

how important is the "internal gauze layer" in the catch tank

thought the tank just acts like a pot to collect the crap that goes in the pipes and the air just carries on through via the outlet on the tank?

spent 2 hours with jim (fabricator) on tuesday to run threw a few things and my car is spending a day with him on the 19th march to make/mock up

oil catch can

header tank (need someone local to mansfield/ollerton with a fabia to maybe call in as there a bit different to octavia)

power steering tank

strut tops?

maybe 5l washer bottle??

various other covers

intercooler pipe work hopefully uprated pancake pipe

as most of these are the same throughout the vag range i think he will be on to a winner just need to gauge some interest maybe start a new thread where everyone will see it not just octy 1 owners??
