Was there a rough estimated cost?

id be interested price dependent of course, will this one have a mesh in it?

it will have either gauze in it or it will be baffled he did explain it :S but he was usin technical terms but it sounded good and he does a lot of fabricating for big firms so i assume he knows what he's on about :giggle:

his site if anyones interested and wants to see his work http://alloyracingfabrications.com/ B)

I'm interested price dependant. Will these be coming shiny, if yes will they withstand being powered coated rather have a black one not into the bling thing under the bonnet.

they will come shiny i would thought being alloy, but i suppose you could paint them

price will be around £50 i think but not sure and will come with the 19mm t piece all that is reqiured seperately then is the correct colour 19mm hose.

if the price was closer to £40 then I would be interested  (hint hint!)

if plenty of people were interested then maybe he would let them go a bit cheaper say £45??

but dont hold me too it, at the end of the day its him thats making and selling them

will do

once ive got pics and proof :giggle: i shall put a group buy up in the relevant section

Im intrested to mate, let me know when things are moving forward.

Does anyone know for sure if this would be a good fit for a fabia mk1 vrs too.

Its just that im sure my pipe is 19mm too (not 19 inch as i said earlier haha)

If so you can expect lots of interest from the fabia section....

I think we would get pretty good numbers for this group buy.

I drained mine last night - got about an inch of oily brownish liquid into an old water bottle with greasy lumps of greyish stuff in it. Ew.

I'd be interested in a decent can, but to be fair, £50 does seem like a lot for a bit of fabrication of a tube, two endcaps and a couple of 19mm pipes to hook up to.

Still I'll have a look when you turn it to a GB.

EDIT: You gave your mates website, so surely he will just sell these to us?

http://www.alloyracingfabrications.com/oil-catch-tanks/universal-1-2-3.html

At which point, if he is selling them for £36 on the website, £50 really doesn't seem like a bargain at all.

For a start they require 19mm inlet and outlets! Secondly how is £50 which was a rough guess a high price when the one from America works out at around £100??. The one he's makin is an exact copy of the sackou michi one!! An exact price will be finalised once it's been made.

Making a 19mm inlet over any other size is going to add pence at most to the cost of manufacture.

The can I mentioned above has a 3/4" inlet & 1/2" outlet. That is 19mm and 12mm. That's fitting a single 19mm pipe instead of a 12mm pipe when making it :o

Also, if he is making a copy of the other guys work then that would be a just a copy of somebody design and if you want to get all defensive, theft of IP if the design is patented.

The one from the US is $75 as I have an e-mail from the guy stating so.

Since $75 is £51, then if the genuine article is £51, then £51 for a copy is expensive.

no ones getting defensive? the price still quotes $100 on the site plus shipping, if its only £51 why has someone not come up with another group buy sooner rather than let this thread get out of hand and me keep on the fabricators back because so many people are interested if its to expensive? :S

I was on his site and it always says mail me for a price, so I did :) Was pleasantly surprised as I too expected a high high price.

Now I'd far rather pay a guy in the UK to make it, but at the same time, I'd think something a bit closer to £30-£40 as demonstrated by the units they have for sale would be favourable.

At that price point including the hose and clips (As the US one includes hose) then I'd buy one without a worry.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this, because as I said, if the guy does come through with it and the price is right, then I'd rather buy UK than US.

My one didn't come with the hose & clips and the price was £70-ish on a group buy.

this one will come with the 19mm t piece but no hose.
