Heated Wing Mirrors

Featured Replies

Once the knob on the door is turned to heater do you need the Rear Window Heater turned on or not for it to work?

I remember in the Mk1 you needed it on, so it would turn off both after period of time.

In my mk2 it's independent and DOESN'T reset....stays on until you switch off, but someone else with a mk2 told me there's is linked to the Rear Heater got me wondering.

So I appreciate your responses.

Mine works with the heated rear window!

Mine has a separate manual switch with no 10 minute timer like the HRW has.

Once the mirror adjustment nob is turned to the heated mirror icon, it is on until you turn it of again - nothing to do with the rear view mirror.

Then why along with gord above, is that 2 people that think otherwise? Is there differences in different cars?

I tested mine today out of interest. The mirror heating came on once the mirror switch was set; I did not have the heated rear screen on at all.

Mine's a FL vRS built week 45/09 if that helps.

I thought it only came on with the rear screen.

I'd really appreciate it if a few people could re-check there's to verify, because this might explain premature heater element failure on mirrors due to permanently staying on (so easy to forget about it....and tbh would make sense to hook up to rear window demister).

Same for mine, they are on until the driver turns them off. Unrelated to the HRW.

No need for the heated rear on the Mk II, just turn the knob to heat and it should clear. Mine certainly do.

What about reading the manual?

It will come on if the mirror adjuster is on the heated mirror sign. No need for the rear demist to be on.

Mine deffo doesn't work with just the mirror switch turned. Tried this in the snow last week and now wondering if I have a fault because I can't say I noticed it clearing with the heated rear window either!

I know how to operate mine, but as some have said there's differ to the operation of mine........which is something the manual WON'T tell you.

I don't fancy replacing it every few years, IF there's a way around it.

GAFF, I guess it could be down to different spec for Ire?
