Stonechips and green calipers

Featured Replies

Hello!

Had a Fabia Vrs for about 4 months now and still enjoying it even though I have had a couple of issues with it (door seals, bushes). One thing I seem to suffer from is stonechips on the bonnet and wonder if its just me or others have this problem? I have never had a car that attracts chips as much as this does. I dont tailgate people and tend to keep my distance so wonder if its just the shape of the bonnet?

Also planing on repainting my wheels and may do the calipers as well. Has anybody painted theirs and is it particular shade of green and should I use a high temp paint?

Thanks

Stonechips easily unfortunately, Race Blue seem to be the worst. I just touch them in with a mix of paint and laquer in one go. Cocktail stick is ideal. Bad ones get wet sanded and then polished up. For green calipers, hammerite do green smoothrite that is very close to the original colour.

I think the original green was "minz green" (IIRC).

AFAIK, hammerite no longer make the paint in the required shade. The one you want is called "Smoothrite Green" whereas the new shade is "Smoothrite Dark Green".

I found a guy selling it on fleabay...

Ebay linky

Thats actually the seller I used, they were an excellent ebay trader! Other sizes may be available, but I got this size so i would always have some for future repaints.

I've not had any problems associated with brake heat, but have not been on a trackday and don't drive THAT hard.... :giggle:

As for the stone chips :'( I think it's something we all suffer from. Not much can be done apparently. Thank Skoda the touch-up pens aren't expensive!

Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. I will wait for the weather to improve and book it into a paint shop to do the stonechips and other marks ready for the summer. I will also look out for the caliper paint as well.
