Featured Replies

Hi There been a long time since i last posted my 1995 Favorit glxie has been idling quite high, mpg was 27.8 :'( many new parts fitted including timing chain lambda sensor , cat new distributor new leads , dizzy cap, rotor , plugs fuel , air filter , oil, ive checked the tappets and all are fine checked manifold gasket , no leaks throttle body cleaned out , is spotless . hope somebody can help as its driving me round the bend , costing a fortune to run fogot to say idle speed is between 1100rpm -1000rpm

This might be the stupid question of the decade, but have you checked the adjustment of the throttle idle stop? With a tune-up like that I'd expect the idle speed to rise if all the parts needed replaced.

Hi There Yes i adjusted the throttle Cable as Per the Haynes Book Of lies as there was so much slack in the cable before you could only do 50 with your foot flat on the floor LoL

Well, that was never a good idea (having too much slack). I was asking about the throttle stop screw that the quadrant rests against when the engine is hot and idling.

Since you bring up the subject of cable slack, you know you should have some, right? I'm talking maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inches.

Hi There Yes theres about 1/4" slack in the cable , il have a look at the throttle stop screw and see if this does the trick fingers crossed

ive tried adjusting the throttle stop screw but it dosent appear to make any differance either way i turn it , wouldve thought itd of done something

sounds like the temperature sensor, its located in the rear of the inlet manifold and the wiring used to break close to the connector,

you should not adjust the throttle stop on the spi unit....

also worth disconnecting the battery overnight just to reset the ecu

Thanks for that have already replaced the temp sensor

the one on the back of the manifold? check the wiring for it there are 2 wires for it and they sometimes break.

servo pipe all ok? they can split by the manifold, i would get it plugged into a computer then and see whats going on with the readings,

if you can find someone that still has the old fav loom to connect 1552 to it. (we do but i dont know where you are)
